TGIF - The Gems I Found

Happy Friday, friends!

How fun are these floral rain boots from Target!

I'm all for the 'cozy minimalist' philosophy behind this spring home tour.

Love the detail of this quick diy gold corner

I usually show a pretty AFTER pic, but the BEFORE of this kitchen makes
me giggle ~ the remodel is amazing!

Bedroom Refresh with Crane & Canopy

There's nothing like spring to get you in the mood for a refresh around the house, right?
Well, my client happened to find a fabric she fell in love with and wanted to use it as
inspiration for a bedroom refresh. Do you remember the Craigslist Bedroom I did a couple
years ago for the One Room Challenge? That's the one!
We intentionally kept the base pieces in the room neutral so it would be simple to change
up down the road. This time she wanted to incorporate some of her blue and white pottery
collection, and tie it in with the pretty chinoiserie patterned fabric she loved,
which we put on a custom lumbar pillow.
I was so excited when Crane & Canopy reached out to me to try their bedding, I knew
the exact pattern that would pull our room together perfectly!

We love it!
We chose the Crane & Canopy Page Blue reversible duvet cover and shams, both reverse
from white on one side to the navy print on the other. Super easy to change up...next time!
Both feature hidden zipper enclosures and white piping for a tailored finish. Interior ribbons
on the corners keep your duvet in place. And, they're machine washable!

Sometimes I'm hesitant ordering online because I really like to feel everything, haha!
We were pleasantly surprised, the bedding has a beautifully, silky luxurious feel.
They use the highest quality extra long-staple cotton with weaves ranging in the
300-400 thread count, and it feels fabulous.
I did not know...
that 1000 thread count sheets are actually not good!
To get 1000 thread you need to use really thin threading, and the sweet spot for duvet
covers and sheets is 400, so that explains it.

We added a vibrant green trim to give the shams a custom look and set off the
pretty green in the lumbar fabric.
Accessories for our refresh came from my go-to, Homegoods. We found the pair of tall
brass and white lamps, shell artwork, blue and white pottery, and blue ikat throw
 pillows there.

If you missed the original before and after design of this bedroom for the
One Room Challenge you might be surprised to know it was done on a budget with
Craigslist finds (nightstands, x-benches, ceiling chandelier) IKEA (drapes) and my
favorite upholstered headboard from Walmart. All sources can be found here.
Crane & Canopy is able to offer reasonably priced luxurious bedding because they
go direct to the best bedding factories, cutting out the middle man and passing the
 savings on to their customers!

One of my blogging besties, Lisa @ Shine Your Light, is also sharing a bedroom
refresh today. I know we're in for a treat, here's a peek of her teen room for you:

Thank you so much to Crane & Canopy for the invitation to try their beautiful
quality bedding, it couldn't be more perfect, and we couldn't be happier with it!

I'm smitten with this stylish flush mount, and at 29"W x 10"H it's perfect for those
tricky halls or foyers where doors are a factor.

This classic loafer in blush is a steal from DSW!
(May be on hold for me at the store) :)

This camo & blush jacket would be adorable with those flats!
(May be in my closet waiting to try with the flats) :)

My Five Favorites ~ Thrifted Finds

Happy March friends!
This month's My Five Favorites' topic is near and dear to my heart!
I couldn't love thrifting more, the thrill of the hunt and savvy negotiation make it my
game of choice. :) This month we're all sharing our favorite treasures, be it from a thrift
store, garage sale or Craigslist. I'm excited to take a peek at my blogging pals' finds.

 Kris @ Driven by Decor
Jennifer @ Dimples & Tangles

We've got the queen of thrifted finds as our guest this month, Gwen @ The Makerista.
Not only does she have a keen eye for a steal, but her unique style is unmatched! I love
her fearless style, use of color, basically everything she does! #girlcrush
Gwen did a number on this hand-me-down iron patio set, she saw potential and took
90's green metal with floral cushions from dated to straight up timeless!

On to my favorites...

#1 ~ Bamboo Chairs

It was a fun day when I found these bamboo chairs (seen in my Spring Home Tour) on
Craigslist for a steal. I love the texture and pattern against my white vintage campaign
 chest, another Craigslist score.

#2 ~ Vintage Nightstands

I'm a tad jealous these vintage Drexel nightstands were a find for my client's bedroom that
we did for the One Room Challenge a couple years ago. The generous size is fabulous and
they only needed a good cleaning to be top condition.

#3 ~ Oversized Mirror

This ornate mirror (seen in Living Room Refresh) is my favorite statement piece.
It's 6' by 7.5' and I'm so happy I didn't rule it out because of transporting it - minor detail.
I always tell sellers I want to buy the item and figure out the logistics after I have it secured.
We don't have a truck so we rented one from Home Depot.

#4 ~ Outdoor Furniture

This bamboo set for our patio was a fun find, and I LOVED it for a season! Sadly,
it wasn't as functional as it was pretty. Mr. Simple didn't appreciate that the seats were only
about a foot high and didn't have a good arm rest for his beverage, haha details! I sold it and
will show you the replacement once we have it out for the summer.

#5 ~ Tortoise Shell Tray Table

My living room coffee table (seen in Coffee Table Styling) absolutely still sparks joy :)
after finding it a few years ago. A $50 score on Craigslist, don't hate me!

Be sure and check out these talented friends' favs:
