I was thrilled to cross this large gallery wall off my to do list after a year.

Framing colorful batik fabric in thrifted frames was an inexpensive way to get the

look of high-end artwork and add a fun dose of color to a large wall.

Just a tease of Lisa's custom vintage sign she created after seeing something similar

in a magazine years ago, after a visit to the Cape for an anniversary celebration

she knew exactly what her sign would represent. What's more awesome, she's now

offering custom signs for those lucky enough to be local to her!

Kris @ Driven by Décor

Kris added some cozy, warm wood tones to her crisp white kitchen with vintage

nesting herb crates. She's styled them to perfection with everyday items they use at the

table, and has plans for pretty seasonal updates.

Jennifer @ Dimples & Tangles

Jennifer upped the glam factor in her living room with the addition of these gorgeous
Horchow inspired fur ottomans from a thrifted fur coat, leather, nailheads, and of course,
a bit of gold!

tour through blogland...

Hope you had a wonderful weekend, ours was eventful, sports, a wedding,

a family BBQ, and a trip to the ER by ambulance to keep it exciting. It ended up

Mr. Simple had an episode of vertigo, I wasn't home and he called me not feeling well,

the scary symptoms were worsening after being on the phone with him for 20 minutes and I

decided to call 911. I arrived home to six paramedics and firemen in my kitchen, all is well,

they gave him meds and he was home from the hospital after after a few hours.

Thank goodness.

I'm sure you've seen some of the tours through blogland, a fun get-to-know me game of

Next up, a few questions for me to answer...

What am I working on right now?

Most recently, I've been focusing on an exciting project that I finally get to

reveal at the end of the week, stay tuned! I've also continued working on client

projects, including the remodel of three bathrooms for my favorite clients,

my mom and dad! :)

How does my work differ from others in my genre?

I think every designer has their own unique style evolving over time from their life experiences, travels, etc. I believe designers are like snowflakes - no two are alike!

How do I write/create what I do?

I see the world through my DIY lens- always trying to figure out a way to take something

I have and make it unique. I love cruising through my local Home Depot or Lowes to

check out everyday items to see how I can creatively incorporate them into projects like

I did with my kitchen hood.

How does my writing/creative process work?

My creative process begins in many varied and unpredictable ways. My mind is always

in DIY-mode.My inspiration comes from everything from nature to the aisles of

hardware to high-end retail stores, to Pinterst, to my fellow bloggers. Like many

designers, the creative process started when I was very young. While a box of tin foil

may represent a mundane method of covering food to some; to me it inspired visions

of mirrors for my Barbie house.

Keeping my writing style simple, short and direct works perfectly for my can't-sit-still personality. I would rather by DIYing and tweaking the styling of a fun reveal for you

than sitting at the computer writing intricate details about it!

on my thrifting list...bamboo accent table

Do you have a thrifting list? Mine is on my phone.

It's easy to forget about specific items you want to be on the lookout for, keeping a

list helps you focus in the heat of the moment when steals are so tempting! :)

These little gems are easy to score at thrift stores, garage sales or Craigslist.

(Check out the collection I found on our Craigslist at the end of the post)

Such a versatile piece, move it anywhere you might need an extra accent table,

or place to set a beverage or book, inside or outside, bedroom, bathroom, entry or

guest room. I love the interesting variety of details and sizes, too.

diy framed batik fabric...

Are you sitting down? I finally made a decision and finished my gallery wall!

The empty frames hanging in the living room had been the subject of jokes with friends

and family for ~~a year~~ awhile, no more! I loved the vibrant colors and patterns of these

batik-like fabrics I found at Joanns and Hancock Fabrics, and knew how simple and

inexpensive it would be to frame them. Remember when I showed you lots of options

and how I framed my black and white abstract.

I like the contrast of the ornate details on my Craigslist settee that I reupholstered

with the simple modern frames.

I hit the jackpot at Goodwill one day ~~a year ago~~ and found all the frames (already matted)

for $8 each, they're nice sized 18" x 21". The entire arrangement is 5 1/2 feet x 6 1/2 feet,

large enough to make a pretty statement.

I bought a third of a yard each of several prints, the fabric was 30% off

the day I shopped and each ended up being about $3, total $27.

The process is just a few simple steps:

1) Iron your fabric smoothing out any wrinkles.

2) Place fabric behind mat and position pattern/color to your liking.

3) Trim fabric and hot glue to edge of mat, place in your frame.

I'm loving the variation in colors and how effortlessly they'll mix with some
warm tones for fall, which is right around the corner! :)

Yes, you can have white chairs in the dining room! If you've never tried slip covers,
Ikea's are great quality for the price, and launder nicely.
