I've been hanging out at Ikea a lot lately, again today in fact.
Not a productive trip, as their website indicated the legs we needed for Detail Boy's
nightstands were in stock - 121 available today - nope, not one!
I decided to wait while they checked their truck, and intentionally wandered back to the
Tobias Lucite chairs - I LOVE them!
They're comfortable, they have some flex and a slight rocking motion,
they look great in a small space,
they don't take up much room physically or visually,
they're kid and pet friendly,
they slide completely under a desk (not the case with a lot of desk chairs with arms),
they can be funky, fun, whimsical, modern, classy and paired with anything,
they're $79!

yes! i am most definitely a fan! BUT for me it has to be mixed with some glam and some rustic so it is not left feeling cold.

I like it personally, but I had a friend once say, "I don't want people seeing what my butt looks like when it's squished and flattened!" I've never looked at these chairs the same sense. ha!

I like the look of them, but once you've had them for a long time, they start getting cloudy and/or scratched up.

I think they're cool and will look great in a room with dark grey walls. My guess is that Detail Boy likes them too (and the bum issue doesn't even cross his mind!)

I thought for sure Mom would've already commented here. We have a longstanding history with Mr. Tobias. I decided (three apartments and one house ago) that I wanted to get some for my teeny tiny dining room table, so off to Ikea we went only to find one (back then they were $99 which was steep for me!). Mom literally corralled the stock boy and strong armed him into letting us take the demo model back in the aisles for pick-up on the way out of the store. Reluctantly he did and to this day, one chair has a horribel sticky mark that nothing will remove from the 'stock' sticker that was permanently glued on it. I still love them. They have held up great. My husband begs to differ - always citing his disdain for the 'invisible'.

I'm going to say "sort of" - I think they are right depending on the room. I do like that you could add them to a really warm room for added texture and gloss. Any other good finds or people-watching while at IKEA?
I need those chairs for upstairs! They are so amazing! I truly heart IKEA!

I like how they look in the photos but i just don't think they will ever find a home with me! For one - I don't think my hubby would like them at all. And 2 - I just don't think they go with my house - but if I changed my mind and decide I like them and want them then of course they would go with my house well enough!! LOL! I think they would look great with your decor though
ok i seriously want to redecorate each room in my house after looking through all these images! great decorating sense of style
As an uber-talented designer (you!) once told her client (me), I especially like them in spaces that need something that your "eyes can pass right through!"

I'm not sure if you already are aware of this, but IKEA has a great return policy and should happily return any item you are not satisfied with.
Wow I love these! I've been looking for new chairs for my kitchen and these might be the ticket
I hadn't noticed these at Ikea before. I think they add a great modern touch to a room!
