craigslist settee...she's mine

Thank you sweet friends for all the kind comments on my diy yesterday!
You made my day!!

I'm off to pick up my latest Craigslist find today - yippee!!
I can't wait to get this little gem home and figure out what I'm going to do with it.
As my friend reminded me, some things are worthy of a splurge. I agree completely,
especially when you find something unique, functional and so versatile. Sold!! I can
see this piece working in so many different areas...as seating at our dining room table,
a drop off spot for our bags in the living room, at the foot of a bed, or in our guest room.
We agreed on $150, which made me extra happy!

Gorgeous Victorian French antique settee - $200 (North Co Springs)

Look at those nailheads, detail, curves and casters!

I envision the seat upholstered in a modern geometric print, oversized bold floral
 or vibrant colored velvet.

What do you picture?

I see a solid linen in a bright modern color or cream/off white to show off the details. What a pretty feminine piece!

Gorgeous find. I see a solid of some sort. I feel a print would detract from all the wonderful details.

Oh, I love it! How about a black and white stripe? But whatever you choose, it will look fabulous. Please post an after photo!

Lucky duck! That's gorgeous! Ooooh, velvet would be awesome! But I just saw the black and white stripe suggestion too and that would be killer! I assume you're leaving the frame alone?

Great find! Love the velvet idea - I agree with others that something too busy might take away from the details of the piece. Can't wait to see the "after"!

Pam grab it fast! I had confirmed a price and pickup time on a great little CL find only to have her write me the next morning (right before pickup time) and say sorry my husband sold it to someone else last night. What!? So wrong.

Gorgeous. Love the velvet, especially if it was a deep, luscious cobalt blue. Yummy!

YES!! I am writing a post as we speak about traditional chairs in non traditional fabrics! In fact someone (thought it was you) just posted some chairs in a fun geometric print that I was trying to find for an example...guess it wasn't you but I totally agree with you ...can't wait to see it!!

I think it's time you wrote a book on how to rock Craiglist. You are amazing! And so is this settee :)

Pam, she is beautiful. She would be gorgeous in velvet (I luv velvet) or the geometric fabric would be fantastic, too. Whatever you do will be beautiful I am sure. I used to have a light blue antique velvet sofa and 2 fireside French chairs done in cream, light blue and gold. I wish I still had them. You find some of the most amazing things on CL. Do you mind sharing (or do you have a top secret way) what different ways you search in CL for such amazing things. I found a beautiful armoire on CL the other day and the guy had paid at least 3K for it and was offering it at $200 which was a great deal. He and I get emailing back and forth until he said he would give it to me free (I should have known this would be a disaster) just come for it on the weekend. Well, the weekend came and my husband and I went to get it - it probably weighed a 1K pounds and we would have to take it down steps - it was a joke...so long story short, I had to leave it. I totally understood why he offered it for FREE. I usually ask everything I can think of before going to look at something; however, he was not completely up front with all my specific questions. Oh well, life goes on........Did not mean to write a book...sorry.

Take care
