one room challenge...week 5

I'm dying to see every one's progress this week, the deadline is closing in on us
and I have the feeling this group is best under pressure.
Woo hoo! Two out of three diys were a success over here this week.
My idea to add a little pizazz to the Urban Outfitter's tiered pendant is making up for
my Roman shade that's been less than cooperative and is getting re-worked.

Remember the before from last week...prettier, don't you think?
Tutorial to come later in the week, it's easy I promise!

My favorite is the warm ambient glow it casts.
I'm happy with the valance, and that I took time to be sure the pattern matched,
if you take a photo straight on like the one below you can tell...you noticed, right?
Those folds are giving me fits and are pinned up at this point, after ripping out all of
the stitching and starting over. If I'd stop standing around admiring the light I could have
had it finished by now. :)

This week I'll be working on getting my accessories together, and figuring out
how to deal with the shade...ugh!
You'll never guess my accent colors...pink and blue...trust me!!
Ha, how's that for leaving you in suspense?

If you'd like to catch up with past weeks
Week 1 - Before & The Plan
Week 2 - Painting Stripes
Week 4 - Lighting

Have fun checking in on the rest of the projects!

I can't get over your transformation of that light fixture. It went from young adult to hip and chic. So creative! You bet I noticed your pattern match...faboo. I would kill myself over something like that, too. My family would walk right by it.

I LOVE what you did with that light! Totally an awesome makeover. Wish I could pop in and help you with that shade - is it a Roman shade?

Your room is looking fantastic Pam! Love the fabric on the window. I'm ready to tackle my roman shade, too, and have wrestled with the folds before. let me know if you have any tips. Mine is a double wide window so it may not keep the fold so well.. Love your combinations of textures, stripes and patterns. Good luck with the final push!

Wow! The light fixture is now an inspired combination of masculine lines with feminine detail. Was it easy to attach the mesh?

I love the light! I have been in the same tough spot with a Roman shade before and it is maddening that something so seemingly simple could you that much trouble. I am excited to see how these accent colors fit in ;)

All of your changes are amazing!!!! I love the light transformation...i may need to steal this idea as my original light for a project has a backorder date that keeps getting farther out (and is becoming even more frustrating) So please post the tutorial soon!!!!!!

Pretty sure you'd better trademark your design before Urban Outfitters can copy it! Genius...love it, girl.

Kathleen said...

OMG Amazing!!! It is awesome! I can't believe you are trying to line the drapes up yourself. Wow. I am so impressed! Can't wait to see some accents:)

Barbara Matson said...

Looking good! The pendant is a statement piece too. And I know how hard it is to line up patterns when making window treatments - it can be such a hassle!

Amber B (Simple Dwellings) said...

Wow, amazing! I love what you have done to the Urban Outfitters light and can't wait to see how! Don't worry, the valance will work out- I have faith in you!! Can't wait to see the reveal. :)

I misunderstood, I thought you were going to use it as a stencil over the light last week. And I still loved it then too! Looks amazing Pam. This is a great room.

The light is lovely, Pam. Can't wait to read how you did it! x

Gypsy Heart said...

LOVE the light fixture! You are very talented to figure out the accessory for it.

You have a ton of patience too to continue dealing with the valance. :) The fabric is lovely! Well, I would never have guessed pink & blue ~ can't wait to see.

It seems that more and more people are adopting strong and striking colours in their bathroom design as a backlash to the soft neutrals that have prevailed for the last decade or so. Colours typically not found in this space, such as saffron and aubergine, are growing in popularity. Get More Detail about. shower bath
