It's underway...I'm thrilled to be joining all of the talented bloggers above!
My 1938 bathroom will be getting an update.
We remodeled ten years ago, updating the original pink and burgundy tile, and fixtures. I
chose travertine, neutral fixtures, and re-purposed a French style cabinet as the vanity, ten
years ago that idea was cutting edge. :) Heavily textured walls, an oversized ornate mirror, traditional sconces, bright gold, my own little Tuscan style, Italian Villa like bathroom....
and I'm over it!

Today my favorite style is a mix of traditional with a modern vibe,
a neutral palette that can easily adapt to my ever changing tastes,
and I love including something unexpected.

Here's the before, check out the hunt scene on that vanity.
Actually, the plan has already changed since yesterday.
I love David Hicks La Fiorentina pattern, but it's pricey, so I decided to diy my own stencil
(since it worked out well for me here) very loooong story short...
So...I've decided stripes are my new favorite, along with the planned Bansuri ikat
valance and roman shade !
The vanity will get a fresh coat of paint.
The unexpected...swing arm sconces.
Lovely curtains I made...ha!
Nice styling with my Clarisonic and dead fall leaves, too.
I searched long and hard for that matching art.
See the heavy texture on the walls, just paid $$$ to have it covered up!

A rug like this would make me extra happy ~ not happening at $7800 from ABC Home,
but a something similar would work. :)

This is so exciting! I love your ideas. Can never go wrong with stripes!
Fun Pam! I must say that your curtains are really pretty - and you made those? You are so good! I'm excited to see the new look that you give to your bathroom.
Oh...such great ideas!!! This will be fun and inspirational to watch.
LOVE stripes.
Oooohhh cannot wait to see what you come up with. I wish the David Hicks stencil would have worked!! One of my faves too!
It is certainly going to be quite a transformation..... I am 100% confident that it is going to turn out amazing!
I love watching you work! I can really relate to all of this. What is so hot and in, feels a bit sad a decade later. My husband doesn't get it at all. I can't believe how impressive that stencil try was. Your stripes will look great because you have a fantastic eye. This makes me wonder how the owners of our old house are doing with the textured wall I left for them.
You are so awesome for trying something new. What a bummer it didn't work out. But I know the end is going to be awesome!
10 years is a long run and you made good choices back then so a little tweaking will update it in no time flat without ripping out and starting new. Can't wait!!
ooooh fun! i can't wait to see the progress!
What a transformation! I'm curious to watch the follow...Nice blog, thanks for sharing
The stripes are going to be fun and fresh and make the space look even bigger. Case in point where sometimes a "fail" brings about something better!! Have fun painting ... I'll be doing the same this week!! xo
Love the stripes, how fun are those! I have that same fabric as a valance in my kitchen right now and love it. This is going to be so fun to follow along and watch the transformation, you have a great eye Pam, even if the villa bath is uncool, I would have thought it was amazing back in it's prime.
This is gonna be good Pam!!! Amazing how our tastes evolve over hte years isn't it!
I LOVE that Ikat - and how it mixes the cooler grey with your warm tones. This is going to be fabulous!
Great ideas - this will be fun to follow.
Isn't it funny how our tastes change? I have had a bathroom or two like that, too! i can't wait to see the redo. You're amazing taking on stenciling. My forays in to that have been DISASTROUS! :)

Oh my, that is going to look stunning. And I love your stencil idea. I have to say I adore that fabric! Looking forward to watching this room unfold.
I can't wait to see all the changes. I love the stencil by the way. It reminds me of my living room rug.
I love your ideas - and I love stripes. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

Wish I lived closer to drop by a sweet treat in the middle of your stripe madness. I'm pretty positive you're going to knock this one out of the park!
I just about cried for you when i saw the pic of that stencil. yikes. too bad. I bet stripes will look great though!
I can't wait to see your finished product. I love stripes too! Such a pretty Ikat.
So are you just painting over the hunt scene to reuse the existing vanity, or are you getting a new one? From the photos I couldn't tell. Whatever you do, I am sure it will be lovely:)
Can't wait to see it!
Have a good time changing your room. Everything you choose will be great. Jo @ Let's Face the Music

This is so fun Pam and I can't wait to see what you do:)
What a great idea, a six week transformation. I have been wanting to make a few tweaks to my rental's bathroom may just follow along and attack it now. I have to agree with the others you have great bones to work with and can easily see a more modern look using your current fixtures.
I'm loving your plan! Too bad about the stencil but I think the stripes are going to look great!
Totally sucks about your stencil pattern! But I think I might like the stripes better anyway. Either way this bathroom is sure to be great when your finished with it!
Pam I love stripes (so much that I have a pinterest board devoted to them.) Love where you're taking this!

Shannon
I love stripes too! Cannot wait until it's all finished and we can see the magic that you've worked.
Thanks for abandoning the "Tuscan" look ~ I'm so over it too! Looks heavy to me now. :)
Pat

The wooden elements (furniture) like vanity units, cabinets, shelves, and general storage items must be wood that has been distressed to make it look old and worn. But the luxurious bathrooms have taken such a step further by replacing terry cloth carpets with the Persian and Turkish rugs. Get More Detail about. p shaped bath
