one room challenge...week 2

Oh, you guys I really wanted to have painted cabinets to show you today
but it wasn't in the cards! : (
I knew it was going to be iffy, we had family in town for a few days and then
Mother Nature didn't cooperate with my painting plans. The good news is it warmed
up today and I have the sweetest friend ever in history, between the two we made up for
lost time and are on a roll with painting the cabinets!

This could be the ugliest photo I've ever put on my blog!
It isn't pretty, but it's progress...all primed and ready for the paint tomorrow.

This would be that sweetest friend lying on my floor sanding, and on top of that she is
so dang funny she makes this seem like fun...almost!

31 doors and drawers, sanded and filled...

Got the paint booth all set up in our lovely 1938 garage...

The wet primer had an orange peel finish which had me checking with Google to
troubleshoot the problem, luckily a little patience took care of it and it dried perfectly
smooth! Yes!!

I can't wait to share the scoop on the HomeRight Paint Sprayer.
I'll do a full tutorial once the cabinets are complete, but I'll give you a hint
LOVE!!!

Go see what our fabulous friends have been up to this week...

Looking good Pam! It's definitely a big undertaking, but worth it in the end! These paint pyramids might come in handy for your doors while they're drying - a big help for me! http://t.homedepot.com/p/Hyde-Painter-s-Pyramids-10-Pack-43510/202102480

I totally want to hear about how you dealt with that orange peel paint finish. I like to paint almost as much as I like to sew. Looking forward to the how-to.

Therese - the orange peel leveled out on its own and dried completely smooth. Panic set in when I saw it, but we just needed to be patient and wait for it to dry!

Yay, gray! This is a huge paint project... kudos for doing it yourself. Also- so surprised your concrete counter is chipping. I was thinking of using concrete for my eventual kitchen redo but now I'm a little nervous.

Oh you are coming along great! What a huge undertaking - I have some cabinets in my kitchen to paint and I just keep putting it off cause it's such a huge job. And I don't have near the amount of cupboards you do and I will just paint them where they are - doors and all - cause they are a hodge podge of different cupboards and what the room really needs is gutted and all new everything!

mrs. V | Chez V said...

bravo to progress and great friends. that is no small feat. can't wait to hear about the sprayer.

Holly Gruszka said...

Oh my word Pam - you get the award for taking on the most painted cabinetry. Big fist bumps for that. Do you crash at night or what? I'm exhausted just thinking about how much work that is, but your awesome friend saves the day. How nice of her! You got this Pam!!!

Kim said...

Way to go tackling that painting job and I am looking forward to a full review of the sprayer!! Got to love those sweet friends that will lay on the floor and sand for you!! xo
