pairing traditional & contemporary

Back to the living room update....
This traditional cabinet has been in my living room for years and I still love it,
but it's lacking some modern accessories.
Pairing traditional furniture & contemporary art has always been one of my favorite looks.

                                                       The before....
fitting I'm showing you in October, as the only picture I found was from Halloween,
and those lamps, tassels and fake tree in the mirror - scary!

(When 'detail boy' was little I took a fall picture every year and put them out with my fall decor.)
Enjoy taking them while they're young,  a 13 year old will have no part in posing
                                                            with pumpkins & hay bales!

                                                              The after....

~   abstract artwork from Home Goods
~   added a larger lamp with more substantial shade from my guest room
~   headed to Goodwill and came home with the $2 blue vase
~   and $7 worth of artwork to add another layer of interest
~   I could have stopped there, but that book on top was calling my name.

I mindlessly set the artwork on my dining room table,
I had the blue watercolor on top of the orange poppy and and liked how it looked
so I did what every DIYer would do,
ran to get my glue gun and started in to see if my idea would work.

Call me crazy, but I liked it!
(btw, my intention was to buy the poppy for the frame & mat)

~ one more before & after ~

Enjoy a fabulous fall weekend!
