a favor for a friend...

Today I'm over at my friend Julie's @ T&G Inteiors. I know I speak for many when I say
one of my favorite things about our blogging community is the friendships and support we
all give each other. I've seen it happen over and over, when someone needs a favor or prayer
the support is overflowing. My heart goes out to Julie who has been consumed with caring
for her aging parents and all that goes with the overwhelming and sad circumstances of
 their health issues and Alzheimer's.
Julie is a talented interior designer in Southern California, I wanted to share a bit of her
home and work before you head over to check out what piece of furniture I'm hunting
for to include in our home (you may not realize you need one, too)!

This is Julie's gorgeous dining room, although she says it's not finished, she'd like to change
out the side chairs, new chandelier and drapes. The before is pure inspiration, if you happen
to have a dining set you're not thrilled with get out some paint and DIY a new one like
 Julie did!

I know you're scrolling back and forth! :)
Here is the before of those gorgeous dining chairs, she found them at an estate sale,
that fabric and placement of the pattern was brilliant!

This is one of my favorite transformations Julie did for a client, a simple built in
 cabinet goes from ho, hum...

to this incredible statement!! Isn't that trim detail amazing?!

Pop over to T & G Interiors to check out my post here
and say a prayer for sweet Julie and her parents.

denver home tour, a classic redux

I recently stumbled upon this beautiful home that was featured in our local magazine,
Colorado Homes and Lifestyles a couple years ago, but it was new to me and I knew you'd
love it too. Designer, Andrea Schumacher said, "The young couple that owns it wanted it to
feel young and traditional, but not stuffy."  I think she did a fabulous job accomplishing
 their goal. Enjoy!

So much eye candy, but this bedroom is one of my favorites. I'd never guess I could
love the plum and orange combination so much!

summer spiff up...

Hope you took full advantage of the long weekend, we found time to hang out with
friends and family, take in some 4th of July festivities and almost finish our black deck
A couple weeks ago I popped in Goodwill and came home home with two items
that inspired a quick spiff up of my family room. I didn't have a plan, but it ended up
being a lively burst of color that feels fresh and fun for summer.

I nabbed this fretwork lamp so darn quick, and then noticed the insane $7 price tag! :)
It has a raised branch and blossom, and Greek key detail at the top and bottom, I'm smitten.
Then I spied the coral, chevron ikat pillow with embroidery detail for $6. It's
available on Target's website for $25. Can you believe this is my first ever chevron
purchase? That fun tropical lumbar is from this etsy shop that I love for unique
pillows, her custom details and workmanship are top notch, check out the velvet with
exposed brass zipper...perfection!

I moved our black lacquer table (a DIY from two years ago that I still love) for some
contrast with all the white and styled my new Craigslist coffee table with a few books,
white accessories and hosta leaves from our yard in a square vase. If you missed my post
'simple summer styling' I shared some ideas for using foliage.

If someone asked me to style a coffee table without books, a tray, and greenery or
blossoms from our yard I'd be in a pickle. They're always my favorite go-to items.

$13 well spent - this little update will make me happy all summer!

What favorite item have you added to your decor for summer?

best of the nest june features...

Happy 4TH of July, friends!!

Whoa, you all were busy last month, thank you so much for sharing all of your amazing
projects! Here are a few of my favorites, and my co-hosts are sharing theirs as well,
stop by and check out all the awesome talent in the blogosphere!

Kris @ Driven by Decor, Lisa @ Shine Your Light, and Jennifer @ Dimples and Tangles

** Please pin from the original site **

Christine @ Little Brags turned a potting bench into a beverage serving station.
Perfect for letting guests serve themselves during summer get-togethers.

Amy @ 11 Magnolia Lane added fun gold and polka dot details to her daughter's room.
Check out the cuteness and wonder of gold spray paint! I love the 'move mountains' print.

Mary Ann @ classic * casual * home shared her client's fresh update,
the before and afters of her incredible furniture makeovers are sure to inspire you.

Beth @ Design POST Interiors "got the nerve to 'put her house tour out there." I know we can
all relate to her reluctance in its 'unfinished' state. For the record, I think that's crazy talk!

Brandi @ Don't Disturb this Grove revealed her beautiful patio makeover,
that blue door is such a statement, it feels straight out of the Mediterranean. It's
the perfect intimate spot to enjoy summer mornings and evenings.

Instagram Favorite

bkacker transformed her office chair into this stylish beauty,
and has me wondering if her work space is outside for the summer. :)
Anyone else smitten with this striking fabric she chose?

Start thinking about your project, we'd love you to join the next party on
Friday, July 25th!!

Wishing you a wonderful weekend filled with family and friends,
good food, and oohing and aahing over fireworks!
