I'd planned to have a fun Dollar Store DIY for you today, think gold knock off, sort of!
It was a bit uncooperative, and my day ended early to head out to our soccer match,
which left no time for photos, :( but it's up for tomorrow. In the meantime I'm chatting
about one of my favorite accessories...busts.
I was tempted with a few witty titles, but decided to save myself from being inundated
with spam. I love them, I've heard people say they're trendy, but they're a timeless, classic
in my book. A versatile accessory that can be moved from room to room, and looks as
interesting in a kitchen as bath. I've purchased two and found them both at Homegoods.
But, beware they go quickly if you're on the hunt.
Here are some favorite ways to use them in your home...

What side of the fence are you on, trendy or a classic?

i saw one at the auction and wanted i so badly but it went too high for me.
i like big busts and i cannot lie.
I've had one since I was a teenager and I never got sick of it so I think they are totally classic. Roman style is never out ;)
Have always and will always love them, I have one in my library that I adore!
Never had a bust but would love one, I consider them classic. Your inspiration pics are perfect. My favorite is the terra-cotta colored one in the first pic.
I love them - especially the more casual ones. My parents have one that's been in our family forever and every single time I'm at their house I try to convince my mom that it's time to pass it on to me :)
I think they are fun when not taken too seriously……like the ones adorned with necklaces or sunglasses like that last photo!
Classic, but especially popular right now! I think I'm up to 4... probably time to stop. ;)
How fun is this. I love it. I have a small one so I guess I am on trend.
They really do seem to be everywhere right now, but I agree that they're timeless. Just currently both timeless AND trendy :)
Classic for sure.
My dad has a great one from an old millinery shop. I plan to get my hands on it when he parts with it!!
Busts are always a classic...I have seen many that I like, however, they have become a bit pricey....would love to find one!!
I adore the loving photo of Rio and Mikko-so precious!
Oh, Oh I have one I'm not using...it's made as a planter but I think I can pull it off if I place it high enough!!
Definitely classic but I've seen some that would give me the creeps if they were staring at me all day! I'm a fan of your pot head. ;)
I think I tend to sit the fence on this... in the right application they are definitely classical but, yes there is a but I think too much of a good thing is too much. I'm seeing them in too many homes where it just feels as though they clash with the decor. I have to admit I LOVE your planter head and it really works in your home. In fact I have been trying to get my hands on one but the closest Home Goods is an hour away, yeah not gonna end up with one that way. :-) So I guess I'm saying they are definitely classic but at the same time trendy (and some just freak me out because it feels like their eyes are following me, LOL I know, I know its a definite holdover from all the busts we saw for the 6 years I lived in Europe as a child and too much Scooby Doo!)
Have a great day!
I've noticed this trend too and love them! I only have a couple of small ones but would love a large bust. Where did you get the one you put in your kitchen with the plant coming out of the head? I love that one!
Oh and I think they're an absolute classic- harking back to the days of the Renaissance and great masters- very Euro!
Love the last one the best, those sunglasses crack me up. I think busts themselves are a classic staple, but lately are being used in a more trendy way. A perfect way to reinvent something traditional.
Oh I LOVE them! I have a small to medium 'David' and it's been a constant in my decor ever since I brought it home!
