This is what I'm up to today...

I know it isn't everyone's idea of fun, but I can't wait to see how this turns out!

Do you remember my client with the kitchen update?  I was planning to take photos today and

present you with the 'reveal' on Monday, but we decided to add one more project to 

finish it off. She found Rust-Oleum's Counter Transformations on the clearance rack at

 Home Depot awhile back, so we decided to go for it! Actually, those were my words,

 hers were, "let's try it in the garage."  

We're planning to give her faux butcher block counters some style to go with these

great pieces we've already made over...    

...and a dramatic gallery wall of black botanicals.

Tune in for the reveal one day next week and keep your fingers crossed, 

neither of us have tried this before.

easy outfits transition to fall...

The forecast for today is cool and rainy, and although we escaped the record

 breaking heatwave much of the country had this summer, it's a refreshing change that

gets me primed me for fall. I'm tired of my summer clothes and the thought of breaking out

a few items for cooler days sounds nice. 

Here are some favorite outfits that easily transition into fall. 

Add a classic lightweight sweater...

Dress it down with a jeans and a t-shirt,

trade in your sandals and bright summer bag...

Pull out the plaid, and pair it with pumps...

Get out your crisp white shirt, and layer...  

Throw on a blazer with your jeans and tee...

Pair your chambray shirt with black...

Simply add a scarf in a pretty fall hue...  

I'm not ready for the end summer quite yet, just going with the flow of the forecast!

girl's dorm room decor...

I'm glad you all got a little chuckle from my 'Bad luck at Goodwill' post yesterday!

   

Helping out with a dorm room was a fun project that came together quickly.

 I pulled together a few items that would tie together gray and citron
 bedding with turquoise accents. I shopped my favorite stores Homegoods, Ikea, and Target.

I started with the bedding they chose,
 (the floral pillows in the center are the shams and accent pillow) and added some

graphic punch with the chevron and geometric pillow to bring the accent color.

Every room needs some texture.

 The furry Mongolian lamb pillow and super soft, chunky weave rug were just what it needed.

 The variegated colors in the rug (Target) will be perfect for hiding dirt, too.

An oversize piece of artwork for above the bed makes a pretty, bold statement.

The ombre lampshade repeats her color scheme.

It will give her a foundation to add some personal touches and accessories.
 Wonder if boys do this? :)    

bad luck at goodwill...

 I have something light to ease you back into the week.

I've been getting a little cocky lately after several awesome finds,

even mentioning something to a friend about my 'Craigslist Karma'

well, check this out... 

I loved this mottled, metallic gold lamp shade I recently purchased at Goodwill.

Howdy, Karma!

I about died laughing when I turned the light on and this western scene was revealed.

Chances are good you won't need this tip, but you might check the inside of your shades. :) 

new client...

Sorry I went MIA - we've had no internet, phone, or tv for the past two days.

Our neighbors were having some trees and shrubs trimmed and apparently our cable got

 in the way! Grrrr....I'll spare you the details and amount of time I wasted dealing with

 our cable company, I'm pretty patient, but they send me over the edge! 

Onto something more fun, I'm going to be helping my client pull together a look for her

 dorm room! :) Her mom called and asked if I could spend a few hours finding items to

 coordinate with the bedding she's chosen. I'm loving her choice of gray and citron, we'll

be adding an accent color to give it some pizzazz.

 I'll show you what we came up with next week.
