how well do you know me?

A simple game, what color do you think I'm painting my
new Craigslist dining room chairs?

"Midcentury modernism resonates for me," says Adler, who paired Warren Platner's 1966 dining table from Design Within Reach with his own Chinese Chippendale chairs. The chandelier is from the 1970s. Curtains are Hinson's Montauk Texture in Aegean, the same fabric used for the living room curtains and ottoman.

I'm ready to start painting - 12 chairs (6 new, 6 old) is a little crowded in my dining room!

But, I'm still sanding...

client project

One of my clients called last week before we were heading out of town,
they'd like an inexpensive update for their guest room, asap!
It made sense to work with some items they already own, we're keeping a navy and sage
green sleeper sofa (the plaid pillow below) and a dark formal dresser with brass hardware.

Here's what I came up with today, we chose the chair on the left.
I may have screamed when I saw how well the chair was going to work with
the sofa to give it an updated look.
The citrus pillow might be too dressy for the sofa, it had a bit of a sheen.

I also chose a light colored table to use as a nightstand.

Tomorrow's shopping list:

Mirror, Art, Accessories,
Gourd Lamp similar to this would be perfect,
but you know how it goes when you have your mind set on something.

Double Gourd Ceramic Table Lamp - jcpenney

Stay tuned for an update by the end of the week when we need to be finished!

diy outdoor solar chandelier

Hope you all enjoyed a great 4th of July break, we had fun in Vail and crossed
a few items off of our Summer Bucket List,
and now I'm ready to knock out some of my projects!

But, you know how easily I get distracted, and how much I love Pinterest,
that dangerous combination  =  a diy outdoor solar chandelier that I put together today.

My inspiration was from Leah @ The Garden of Leah,
she used a simple outdoor solar garden stake to create her clever chandelier.

http://leahglass.blogspot.com/2010/07/outdoor-chandelier.html

Per Leah, remove all of the original electrical wires and guts from your chandelier.

I thought the style of this clear globe fit my chandelier best.
I found the smallest size at Walmart for $3 each.
(Home Depot and Lowes both carried a larger size),

The bottom slips right off and this top easily sits where the bulb would have been.
I secured it with a little hot glue.

That's it!

I was excited to have found a way to use this light, it was $10 at a thrift sale last October.
It is 36" in length and wouldn't work anywhere!

It adds a nice ambiance to the garden in the evening...even in the rain!
