My Five Favorites - Home Basics I Can't Live Without

Hi friends - it's time for this month's My Five Favorites, we're sharing our favorite
Home Basics. If you've read my blog for anytime at all you've probably heard me
mention a time or two (or twenty!) how much I love my neutral sofas and that they can't
be beat for the flexibility they allow in changing up your decor. Now that we have that out
of the way, I'll be sharing my other Five Favorite Basics that I use over and over again! I can't
wait to see what inspiration my pals have for us today, be sure and pop over to
check them out:

Lisa @ Shine Your Light
Jennifer @ Dimples & Tangles

We're thrilled to welcome Annie @ Most Lovely Things as our guest host this month.
She's as kind as they come, and just as talented. I've followed her blog for years, her
stylish decor and photography always draw me in. She makes her unique, edited style look
effortless! How charming is her kitchen nook?!!
And, she loves coffee and searching out charming coffee houses - a girl after my own heart!

Most Lovely Things

Let's get to my favorites...

#1 - swing arm lighting

Swing arm lighting is an easy addition to create an eclectic mix of styles.
There are a multitude of options - wall mounted, floor lamps, table lamps. I love
mixing the modern style with more formal pieces. Here are three I have -
kitchen, living room and bedroom.

#2 - white comforter

There's nothing like crisp white bedding. I love the reasonably priced Hotel Collection
 from HomeGoods.
My tip for keeping it fresh looking - I fold mine down and remove it every night.
I've taught Mr. Simple my system (three folds, then fold in half and lay on our chair) :)
it takes about 30 seconds to remove it and put it back on in the morning.

#3 - original artwork

I think original artwork adds so much personality to your decor, and it doesn't
have to be pricey. I love buying pieces during our travels, I found the floral on the
bottom left at a thrift store in Copenhagen, it's 28" long and barely fit in my suitcase.
It's one of my favorites, and we all have fond memories of me digging through boxes
while my boys waited patiently, rolling their eyes. Haha!
Most of mine are all thrift store or antique store finds, a special piece
from an art show, or something a friend or family member created.

#4 - an antique

I don't know who said it, some smart designer along the way,
"Every room needs an antique."
I couldn't agree more, although I'd add, "A reproduction works too!"

#5 - gold mirror

I should say 'ornate' gold mirror.
It's another basic that I love using because of the ease of achieving an interesting eclectic
mix. Simply add a couple modern elements and you've got it!

Be sure to stop by and check out my friends' ideas:

Such a great list Pam!!!!!! The antiques rule, I love - every room needs something with a little patina to bring it some character and history! I spy my favorite upholstered headboard that you shared with all of us - that's another great one!

I always enjoy your posts and seeing photos of your delightful rooms. I've missed your regular posting and hope for another one each day! Although my house doesn't look like yours, I also have gold mirrors, white duvets, and antiques--they all make for wonderful design.

I love your list Pam. And I like that you added a reproduction counts as every room needs an antique. It's so true! I also love that you found that original piece of art in Copenhagen. It's so fun to be able to bring back treasures from travels. Thank you so much for inviting me to guest host this month Pam!

This Christmas, you can do essentially more than decking the hallways, stuffing the stockings, and dealing with the trees like you have been doing in past years.American Airlines Reservations, you can solemnize Jesus' birthday in a substitute way by making an excursion to irrefutably the most renowned traveler areas and laud the festival in style.
