monogram pillow with sharpie

I was in the mood for a quick, easy and free project!
I had the burlap and had saved the stencil from my monogrammed door mat project here.
Since you can never have too many monograms...

I originally used a large wooden letter as my pattern for the 'Z,' but you could
easily find a font you like on your computer and print it out. Just center it and trace
around the outside with a fine sharpie, marker or pen.

Mikko, our sweet cat named after a hockey player, (boys!) was helping.
I tried something else first, that's why all those lines look nothing like a 'Z.'
Place a piece of cardboard under the burlap and start coloring with a Sharpie!
I wanted a slightly faded look, and used a light hand when filling in the stencil.
Be sure to keep your coloring either horizontal or vertical and stay in the lines! :)

Sew three sides together, insert pillow form and hand stitch the fourth side.
I like the casual feel it gives the family room, but I made it to go
outside, so that's where you'll see it soon!

Do you have any quick, easy projects on your list?

Ahh the magic of a sharpie! It's on my favorites list along with paint, rub n buff, and freezer paper! LOVE how the pillow came out - so simple and the scale of the letter gives it a great impact! I'll have steal this idea Pam!

I really like it. and sharpie would have been my last guess as for what you used to fill in the Z. It looks great! I am always a fan of anything Monogrammed, and try to use them around the house often. Have a wonderful week!

You did that with a Sharpie? It has that vintage look and feel to it - never would guess that's the work of a Sharpie. Can you come east and do some projects for me? :)

That is a really cool idea! I may just have to make some pillows for the chairs on my porch. Mine would have an 'F' over a 'Z' :)
And yes I do have a quick and easy project to do - new dining room curtains out of a drop cloth. I really should get busy and do those today!

I love it (my maiden name is a Z so I have a soft spot for Z's ...).

And thanks for the reminder to put cardboard behind the burlap ... knowing me, I'd work on it on my dining room table and forget the cardboard ...

:)

Pam, I love the mix of pillows you have. I'm also curious about the chair in the foreground...it looks so pretty! I never would have guessed that monogram was done with a Sharpie. What a great tip!

I love everything about your pillow combo, and the newly monogrammed one is the perfect addition. You might just have to make another one for the porch. ;)

What a great idea! I'm going to recreate this for my daughter and her roommates new rental house.
I like to do my pillow covers with 2 quick seams down the sides and an overlap flap to slip the cushion in. Sew easy!!
