Do you love the bold statement of black and white,
could you live with it?

Although I love the dramatic, bold, contrast and crisp look,
my taste leans toward pairing it with
warm hardwood floors, rustic accessories, and warm tan hues.
How about you, could you live with it, or do you like it only in pretty pictures?

Well you know I love this post. Sometimes I feel like I'm getting too much black and white, but it just goes with everything! Those barstools, the diamond print curtains, french chairs with the greek key backing, the striped rugs...YUM!
I just LOVE these rooms. I'm not sure I could restrain myself from adding in some pops of color in real life though.
I do love this combo but I personally could only use it in my home in small doses like an entry or powder room. That kitchen is pretty amazing though!
I too love black and white, however I need some warmth like wood floors or a pop of color mixed in like that last photo. The natural elements on the table and pop from the green books against the black & white - yum!
I do love black-and-white paired with other colors to lend balance - I am loving the b&w pillows, drapes, in the picture frames..gorgeous examples, Pam!
Oh, I could so live with it! Think about how easy decorating would be with only 2 colors...clean, crisp and minimalist!
As much as I love my bold colors, I think I could live with it. I love a few of the more relaxed images that you've shown. I've also been reading a little bit each day of my Celerie Kemble book that I won, so that's also got me in a black and white mood. We should have a design book swap!
Yum to black & white and like most of the other commenters, I'll have mine with a dash of color and patina like the entry with the red medallion rug. So crisp, so sophisticated!
Love this post! You found so many beautiful photos. I love the contrast of black and white but I agree with you about warming it up with wood and tan! Thanks for the inspiration!
I absolutely love this look and have been debating bringing into my own home!! Always looks classic and beautiful and makes a huge statement!
CLASSIC Pam!
I hadn't thought of using black and white before, but I am on board now, especially with the painting of interior doors black, and lots of bold patterned rugs I am loving now... Of course, I'll have to change my whole house, but I can inject black in small amounts now...I love your taste Pam..
Have a great day.

Love the idea of doing a house in black and white, then just changing out a few colorful pillows/accessories!
I really love all the rooms you showed. I appreciate the look in pictures but I know if I tried it in my house, I would end up adding a little more color.

I have a black and white Olin rug from crate and barrel at our entryway and I love the dramatic effect. It always seems so chic in pictures like these!
I agree. I can only really have pops of black. I just really love soft blues, greens and pinks with tan - all the sea glass colors :)
I want a black and white guest room, you know, once day when we have a guest room :) I love it!
I love it! I've even done some of the black and white stuff. I like more white than black and not in every room but I could definitely live with it :)
I love looking at these rooms but I really have to have color in my home. Besides, I would have to pitch everything I have and that just "ain't gonna happen". My husband would kill me if I did.

There is something so striking about black and white. It's very traditional and yet chic! Great inspiration!
I never thought I could live with it until I see the beautiful photos you compiled. You have amazing taste.
Great question, could I live with it? I think I would love it at least in one smaller room as long as there is more white than black. Then it get's just too dark for me. These photos are beautiful though!
Love all the images here. Had to pin a few! I am not sure I could live with black and white, but i love looking at it.
I love me some good black and white.....but I'm with you.....I need to warm it up a little with some color.....great pictures!
