Oh my goodness, isn't it amazing what we don't notice when we live with things
a tad too long! That was plain UGLY!
I added a vintage hook on the side.
The rusted frame before sanding and using Rustoleum Metallic Matte Nickel
followed by Metallic Aluminum and rubbed in a bit.
I found this can of Minwax Water-Based Wood Stain in my basement.
The color, Antique Jade, was exactly what I had in mind.
After applying the stain, I distressed it lightly with sandpaper.
I like the matte finish and rustic look, so I'm leaving it as is until I see how it weathers
before adding any type of sealant.

Here are two I purchased, trimmed and potted in my urns.
Although I've called it a potting bench, we use it as a buffet and beverage
station for get togethers more than anything.
Next week I'll show you a new idea I ran across and how I set it up for beverages.
In the meantime I'm going to enjoy the nicer view on that side of my deck!

That is beautiful! You did a great job. And I really really like the potted plants on it - and the peonies! I just planted a couple white peonies this spring. Hopefully they will give me a ton of blooms next year!
I would say all of the hard work was worth it-very impressive "after". And jealous that you have a neighbor that can grow peonies. My dream flower- not gonna happen in Texas!

It's so cute Pam - you did great with this! And how sweet of your neighbor to drop off the peonies. They are so pretty. It's a perfect spot for beverages and snacks. Hope you had a wonderful anniversary and I bet you got lots of fun things planned for the weekend, right?!

This is fabulous - love the little vintage hook! And I am seriously in love with those bushes you trimmed into little topiaries! I was just at Home Depot today - now I need to go back and look for those!

Love how you trimmed those evergreens...for that price who could resist! You did a great job on your potting bench makeover...I have so much work to do in the yard, I just put on the blinders when I am out there, perhaps a potting bench would get me going!! I have always wanted one, thanks for sharing.
Oh, Pam, it couldn't have turned out better! And I love the evergreens. Never would have thought to trim them that way but they make the perfect little topiaries. What a fun, functional piece!

Potting tables ALWAYS get my attention! I love your table. Love the rustic charm and it looks great with all your topiaries and pots. I really like the vintage hook on the side! I just redid an old enamel topped table for a little potting shed. Just need to figure out how to add some kind on shelving to the bottom of the table. Love your blog. Now I'm going to quit blabbing and take a look around.
Just saw this on Better After. I LOVE it! I've been wanting a potting bench for so long. I even bought a hutch to turn into one last month but when my Mom saw it...she wanted it to use inside so I'm back to square one. Your's is perfection. I love the color. So happy I found you.
