progress on dining room artwork

Remember when I was on a roll with the dining room, exactly one month ago?!
After putting the pedestals in storage, (I have plans for the urns, I'll show you later this week)
and running across frames while thrifting it started to fall into place!

This was the one of the inspiration photos I shared here.
Gold frames, white mats, sketches, art hung from floor to ceiling...love it!

This weekend I got busy painting my assortment of thrift store frames to get a
similar look.

Taped off and ready for the paint booth, along with some other victims!

Courtney from a thoughtful place showed us her clever idea here for adding classic gold
metal corners, and I wasted no time trying it out!
Thank you, Courtney!! Absolutely Brilliant!!
My version is a little different, because of the curves and shape of the frame I was
working with, I taped the frame off and spray painted only the corner gold.

Here's part of the assortment I'll be working with, I need another thrifting trip.
Oh, btw, ALL of the items I mentioned in my Goodwill tour here were GONE the next day!
Of course, I still need art for the frames.

I know this is a little unusual, but I decided on a collection of...

The first four images are from the New York Public Library Digital Gallery
check it out here,
they provides 'free' access to thousands of images. I haven't figured out how to download
them yet, I'll share the details as soon as I have the scoop.
Or, if anyone has any info I'd be grateful! :)

So, I'm on the hunt for perfect flamingo sketches or prints...
wish me luck!

Pam, this post totally made me smile when you got to FLAMINGOS! I love how unexpected that is!!! Great idea for floor to ceiling art, I absolutely love that look. One of my gallery walls has frames hung to the ceiling and it really draws the eye up and makes such an impact. Also the gold corners - so pretty!! Can't wait to see this come together.

Love the gold corners and if you didn t want to spray paint I saw over at Richmond Thrifter blog, she used Rub'N 'Buff, so just another option!!

Flamingos! The perfect Colorado bird. Maybe it's a subliminal escape to the beach??
They will look great with the pops of pink you have been using.

Coincidentally, my post today is on the National Geographic website. They have a ton of stunning pics (definitely flamingoes) if that is something you might be interested in. Love what you have found.

Fun Pam! I'm glad you went with some flamingoes - I think they'll be great additions with just the right amount of color that you're looking for too. And what a great idea of doing the corners of the frames.

Love the flamingos! To download, I was able to click on the larger image and then right click and "Save Image As..". If that doesn't work, a screenshot then pasted in a Word doc or Paint or other photo editor will allow you to resize, crop, etc. Good luck!

I have a strange obsession with flamingos so I was in heaven reading this post! The prints you found are so beautiful! Can't wait to see how it turns out!

Both your prints and frames are beautiful! I would never have given pink flamingos a chance, but I love your selection. I love that you dance to the beat of your own drum- I'm tired of the usual owls, etc.

I think the flamingos will be gorgeous & the gold + gilded frames is a great match!
