power of a solid pillow...

It's next to impossible for me to look at beautifully patterned fabrics and choose
solids for a pillow. The process of pairing perfect combinations and finding something a
a bit unexpected to create a unique look is what a designer lives for.
To me the thought of solid color pillows was, dare I say...ordinary and safe.

Clearly, I could use a lesson in the art of restraint,
notice the power of a solid pillow...

How about you, do you have trouble restraining yourself when it comes to pattern?
Do you ever think of using all solids?

This is a great post for me, because I, too, am really drawn to prints. Great job on the recent secretary makeovers, as well.

LOL actually I don't. I love solid colored pillows because I have so much pattern everywhere else. I'm so in love with your first inspiration photo and I think I will need white walls very soon ;)

As a confirmed pillow addict I am not partial to solids or patterns, I use them all. I like to mix them together. Have a great weekend Pam.

I just had a friend of mine do a pillow design for me. She threw in 2 solids, and I would have never thought of that.

How clever of you to point this out, so many times I look at photos of a favorite rooms and think I would have never chosen a solid pillow. I love the oranges and pinks especially. Going to remember this idea, so simple.

Thanks for sharing these pics! I have been looking for fabric for some new pillow covers for months - I know I want color, but just can't seem to pull the trigger - never thought of solids :)

I rarely use solids, but looking at these inspiration shots makes me think differently!

Actually I do use solids sometimes when I need more color. Love the pics.

Such pretty pictures, but I'm addicted to pattern!

I love both! I do have more patterned pillows though. When I layer a solid with a pattern, the solid tends to go in the back. I'll have to play around with it!

I have both solids and patterns. I think it makes for a nice mix and neither overpowers the other. The photos with the rooms with all white furniture need patterns and pops of color! :) I could not do that ~

Never thought about using all solids, but I use it a lot as a 'background' pillow and for my 2 arm chairs that are already patterned. Beautiful images and examples Pam

I'm always drawn to patterns. I need to incorporate more solids.

Really interesting thought...because solids can be so versatile too.

Darling Pam, WOW - I had never contemplated how great couple of solid, brightly colored pillows could add such pizzazz to a room. Thanks for enlightening me! So pretty. And I love your secretary desk makeover too.
