i'm taking your advice...

Thank you all so much for taking the time to give me your 2 cents yesterday!
You guys totally took me by surprise, 35 out of 56 said 'leave it as is.'
And, almost just as many thought the inside should be highlighted with a lighter color,
fabric or paper.

The one comment that stood out was from Anonymous:
I thought her suggestion was great...
use it 'as is' for a while, after that if you are itching to paint it, then go ahead.

So, for now I'm leaving it 'as is' which means:
You saved me a lot of work (thank you!)
and very soon you'll be seeing it all styled up
with my mom's beautiful accessories...I can't wait, it will be fun to play with new things!

I've decided there isn't a secretary desk I don't like...

It was funny, Joanne asked what my mom would like, I did ask her, btw.
She said, 'Surprise me, but not that green in your dining room!'  :)

Have the BEST weekend, friends!

A fun surprise is on the agenda for Monday, I was on the fence about a purchase,
but I pulled the trigger and can't wait to share it with you!

I agree! I have been a fan of secretaries forever. Just difficult to use the drawers below when you are working. Just takes planning what to put in them - enjoy it.

Great advice..I love secretaries too...I have a Jasper secretary and wanting to give it a facelift by just adding fabric to the back....and maybe later, decide to paint it...but it is a beautiful cherry finish, so hard to make that decision.
Have a wonderful weekend with your family!!

Great idea to leave as is. Anonymous, said it well, you always have time to change it or paint it.
Can't wait to see what cat you pull out of the hat on monday for all of us to see. TFS> ana

This post is so perfect for what has been on my mind, I might have to steal it for my blog :) Cannot wait to see your new purchase!!!

Since I have been looking at secretaries on CL to make into a bar for one of my friends, I have been thinking wouldn't one make a fabulous vanity table? I love my new vanity but it doesn't have any storage. A secretary has all those drawers beneath for jewelry and makeup, the middle part with the fold down area would be perfect for a little mirror, and above where the glass doors are could house all sorts of a lady's pretty things, boxes and framed photos! *sigh* wish I could do this - but not enough room. Can someone else out there please please please do this? :) (Pam??)

I would leave it as is. It is beautiful and once you style it, it will look even more beautiful.

Ditto Pam! I am so inlove with secretary #4! Do you know where it's from? Have a great weekend dear!

Such gorgeous options. I agree that styling it with the right accessories is the first step and then if you're still not happy with it, add wallpaper or paint it out.
