the art of layering...

One of my favorite looks is layering mirrors and art,
and if an ornate gold frame is included, all the better in my book.
As I was putting my mantel back together after the holidays I was stuck in my same
familiar decorating rut...gold mirror, layered sunburst mirror, art, and a vase filled
with something from nature for texture.
I thought I'd check out Pinterest for some fresh ideas for layering.

I guess I know what I like...these were some of my favorites...no surprises here!

I have a fun bookcase project planned,
it will give me something to do while I'm waiting for the emerald paint to dry! :)

OHHH Love that mantel by Elegantly Untamed. I'm in the same mindset, didn't want to put my mantel back the way it was, so I restyled it, and still not thrilled. Hope you had fun skiing!

I am staring at my empty mantel at the moment trying to come up with some ideas after the Christmas decor has disappeared. I love all the layered looks you posted but ever since I put up that round mirror, I have had trouble...such dilemmas! I hope you guys had a fun ski trip!

Great ideas! I like the photo with the natural wood lamp, cloche, and candlesticks. I just bought a great wood bowl similar to that at the thrift store, and have a similar lamp also. Hmmm, I see a new arrangement in my future!

I love that lost image from House and Home. I've got a few pieces of art standing layered on our bookshelf in our living room that need to be hung up. But I've enjoyed having them layered on the bookshelf and easily moveable whenever I feel the need to rearrange.

I love this look, and then when I try it...it feels strange. Why is that?

I like a layered look too - you can probably tell that with some of my decor. sometimes I go a bit overboard with it so I'm not sure I've really learned the 'art' of it but I just go with it!
