new client...

Hope your weekend was relaxing and better than the Bronoco's,
if you don't follow football we lost in double overtime! :(

I thought you might like to follow along as I help my newest client, we met before
Thanksgiving to implement a plan. She has a beautiful home, their style
is modern and sophisticated, yet comfortable and causal...think kids, friends, and dog.
They've done a great job choosing foundation pieces, and wanted help pulling the look
together and giving the space some pizazz.

We started in the two story family room, this high end sectional upholstered in a Kravet
fabric has the perfect hint of sheen giving a richness to the casual style. We thought about replacing the rug because of the color, but decided because of the size 11 x 14, quality and investment we'd keep it. What you can't tell from my photo is the amazing texture!

I love their metal dog sculpture on the mantel. I'll get better photos of that space the next time
I'm there.

My suggestions and what we covered on our first shopping trip:

1)  Replace the small floor lamp with one more to scale with the large room.
(Did you notice it in the first photo?)
We chose this...

2)  Choose fabric for accent pillows to add some color and pattern.

We're doing three larger (24 x 24) pillows in the print on the far right, and 3-4 smaller
(20 x 20) in the combination of other prints. The brown and white is similar to what we chose.
She's just seeing these for the first time, as they were finished while she was vacationing.
Don't you love them, Client! :)
The print on the right is actually the fabric folded up they'll be ready this week.
I think they'll add a fun punch of color and life to the room.

This is the opposite side of the room.

I suggested a few over-sized black and white canvas prints similar to this example.

We also hit Ikea and chose a storage cabinet designed with custom built-ins for their office,
more on that to come.

We have a shopping trip planned this week,
on our list is a mirror for above the mantel, lamps for the entry, and possibly a
coffee table if we run across one.

I'll fill you in on our progress soon...

Your suggestions are perfect, I know firsthand! I will look forward to seeing your After shots. Our house was rooting for the Broncos, bummed, really wanted to see them in the Super Bowl! Always next year I guess.

Nice Pam! I love that dog sculpture too - isn't neat to see the things that the owner has that are so neat and can really speak to their personalities? And the pillows will be such a fun element to bring in to the room and give it some pizazz.

Its lovely! and those pillows are perfect. I am a huge pillow lover and think they are the must-needed accessory for a room. And not those whimpy 16" ones- the bigger the better!

All really great suggestions!! The pillows are really going to change the look of the room especially the main print you chose.

Thank you, Elaine - I appreciate your sweet compliment, but I didn't make them (I don't do zippers, mine are mostly simple envelope closures)! I have them done professionally for clients.

Hi Pam, I was wondering if you would know where to go or any points you would have on doing the black/white large photos wall? Didn't want to spend a fortune on it, but totally the look I am going for.....thanks in advance! Anne

Hi Anne, I didn't have an email for you, but I know Costco does large canvas pieces. Good luck!
