Hope you all savored the long weekend.
We had a fun family BBQ on Sunday, and in keeping with my 'day after the party philosophy'
invited friends over for the same menu on Monday.
They surprised us with delicious homemade peach ice cream,
I'll be running an extra mile today!
A friend and I visited a model home on Friday, and while it definitely had that
'un-lived-in' feel to it, there were some beautiful elements. I was attracted to the dark woods,
global furniture and accessories, a rich color palette felt warm and cozy for fall.
I'll share what I wasn't attracted to at the end.
Living Room
Upstairs Loft - Game Room
Master Bedroom
Kitchen
Office
My favorite was this industrial bookcase and the styling!
The next two photos are clues to what isn't my style.
Too matchy for my taste.
The drapery fabrics in the living room, dining room and kitchen
matched the pillows on this entry bench, the smaller pillow on the bench matched the
dining room chairs. I simply like more of a mix of pattern, I'd do a zebra print,
geometric or bold stripe mixed with the floral on this entry bench.
Do you like mixing it up or prefer a more coordinated look?

I'm not desperately keen on everything matching. It reminds me of the 1980's when wallpaper and curtains and soft-furnishings all linked in. Mind you, they did tend to be in shades of peach, lol.
For me, it depends. I crave visual interest in my "living" spaces but I prefer fewer "distractions" in my bedroom... for example. My favorites above are that sofa and the bookcase (looks like Restoration Hardware). Thanks for sharing!
I like mismatched too Pam. I really like the kitchen but I think I would've chosen a different paint color to cool it down a bit. I've been obsessed with color lately and really have been drawn to the whole warm/cool balance.
Love the bedroom! xo
Thanks for sharing Pam. There are so many pretty fabrics available that I wouldn't want to repeat one in another room. I visited and liked the flooring you suggested.
With the color palette in that home it would be easy to find coordinating fabrics for a little bit more interesting final product.
Do you happen to know the make of the bookshelves?
The more eclectic the better in my opinion!
Somehow I missed that post on the day after party, such a great idea though- why not!?
Im with you, I would have added an animal print and maybe a geometric as well. Interesting decor for a model home. Would you say this is typical of the Denver decor right now? Model homes seem to show what is the latest, right?
Have a great day.

oh my goodness... that home is sooo my taste. I love the global feel of the woods and patterns... and the paint color in the office was gorgeous! I love the coffee table in the loft area... do you have any idea where they shopped?! Thanks for sharing. Those curtains were exactly what I'm looking for for my dining room!
Definitely mix it up! I love all of the upholstered pieces that they chose, and that kilim topped coffee table/ottoman? Yummy! The office shelves are a really cool touch, too, with pretty styling.
In my "previous" life I helped builders design their models. I absolutely loved it! We created imaginary families and designed the home for them! It all was based on the lifestyle of the development and who the potential buyers were. Very well thought out!
I would have found coordinating fabrics...a little too much of a good thing!
Model homes are fun! You can get wonderful ideas!
I LOVE touring model homes. LIke you, I usually love most of the decor but some of it isn't my taste. I LOVE the gameroom. I prefer coordinating patterns...stripes, florals and checks, all from same color palette.
Thanks for sharing!
Love a mix! It brings more interest to a room.
I'm with you, I prefer mixing patterns. Although I think sometimes using the same fabric twice can have its place. And I love the industrial bookcase, it's gorgeous!
I love that stripped couch!

No matchy matchy for me! I like to mix things up! You should see my living room right now! 3 totally different chairs. But not really because I planned it that way - I'm just working on 2 of them!!
I love the global furniture and the overall look achieved. Certainly not a matchy person at all - I like to keep things more interesting, where possible.
I agree. I am totally in love with the industrial shelving units and the styling. Wire bins seem to be all the rage these days. I see them everywhere and have even incorporated a few in my home.
Any idea as to where the cream tuffed chair in the master bedroom is from? Thanks so much!
Anonymous, I'm sorry I don't. This builder uses in-house designers that are out of state, we tried to find out about some of the hardwood flooring and didn't have any luck with them getting back to us.
