I've mentioned before how lucky we are to have wonderful neighbors,
but what I haven't told you is that they can diy ANYTHING!
We're talking serious style, research, design, plans, tools, and perfectly engineered execution!
You're the lucky ones today because I'm sharing their amazing deck,
flower boxes, and privacy draperies they designed and built themselves!
This second story deck is adjacent to their newly remodeled kitchen.
The design adds beautiful architectural interest to this side of their home.
The design adds beautiful architectural interest to this side of their home.
They designed custom planter boxes, a six foot herb garden is planted for easy
access from the kitchen, another holds seasonal flowers.
The hanging white lights create a warm ambiance in the evenings.
Mr. Neighbor is the engineer behind a cable system to hold the heavy planter boxes.
Mrs. Neighbor is behind the aesthetics, coordinating the plantings, and making
these beautiful, fringed privacy drapes.
The panels are attached to the rod with clips and rings for easy adjusting.
She created the fringe by removing the bottom six inches of horizontal threads in the
fabric, leaving the vertical threads to twist themselves into fringe.
The custom ties were made from the horizontal threads she removed!
Thanks so much great neighbors for allowing me to share the beautiful space you've created!

WOW!!! What a beautiful outdoor space - your neighbors are so talented!! I absolutely love the detail around the deck as rails - that is gorgeous! AND all those plantings, and the drapes - the perfect spot for a glass of wine!! Thanks for sharing - makes me want to rip my deck out and start again!!
Definitely a lot of ingenuity there! A brilliant idea with the fringe and tie backs for the drapery!
Holy smokes! When are they starting a blog? :) Seriously, such creative ideas that don't look DIY.
WOW!!! that is STUNNING! i LOVE the drapes- gorgeous!!!
Very clever lady, the drape fringe and tie backs are perfect! The railings and planters filled with herbs and annuals are sooo pretty!
It's gorgeous! I love the white lights, I can only imagine how pretty it is out there at night!
You're right.... clever and beautiful!
Beautiful!!!....from the deck to the gorgeous flowers to the beautiful drapes....Love the pulley system for the flowers...As a neighbor, I hope you have the advantage of seeing that lovely porch from your home!
Isn't this gorgeous! What a lovely space to have coffee in the morning, and every meal! and to be surrounded by herbs and flowers is amazing. I just bought some huge turkish towels that look just like her fringed drapes- that's what I thought they were. The tiebacks are gorgeous. Good taste runs in the neighborhood I see!

Your neighbor is very clever. I thought the deck was absolutely beautiful but when I saw that she pulled the horizontal strings and made her own tiebacks, I was blown away! What talent!
Oh Wow! I wish I have that kind of neighbors! What a beautiful place they have created! and those drapes are gorgeous!
Terry - The fabric is from Joann's, Liz Claiborne - Simone, it is polyester but looks and feels like cotton.
Those planter boxes are fantastic! I have an herb garden in my side yard but I would love to figure out a way to move the herbs to a planter box right outside of my kitchen.
Your neighbors deck is gorgeous! Beyond Gorgeous! I love all the details.. the "drapery" is fantastic....
Do you see any of it as your "view"????

That is beautiful! I want to know where she got the fabric for those curtains?! Please??
Wow, your neighbours have really done a wonderful job. Their space is not only beautiful, but incredibly resourceful, too. Love the fringe and tie DIY...
Wow. Gorgeous AND functional.
Oh my goodness....it's beautiful! The drapes really create a nice softness to the deck but the greenery and plants also provide such a nice soft atmosphere. I would curl up there every morning and evening with my reading material and coffee/wine. You guys are probably quite the creative bunch when you get together.
I'm so jealous! That's amazing!
I have always wanted to hang panels on my porch, but I never get around to it. The greenery and everything looks great.
Wow! That is gorgeous! What an amazing place to hang out and have a cup of tea.
Wonderfu photos! What state are you based in? I only wish weather was like 365 days of the year!
I don't know who is pulling who's leg here, but those fringes did not twist themselves. Each one is two individually twisted strands twisted together and then tied. Also this fabric does not have horizontal black strands so the ties were made (if by hand) with at least SOME added materials.
