spring mantel & bookcase

Neutral & Fresh

Here's my simple look for spring...

I was in the mood for something different, it's not my usual more edited look!

All of the vases (except one) are from my thrifting trips,
my tips on how to scour your Goodwill, and what to look for when you're thrifting
are here, and my tips for painting them here.

The pots of wheat grass add a pop of color, freshness and texture,
it couldn't be easier to grow, if you want the details go here.
It's not to late for Easter!

The ivy in my topiary was rescued from a window box last fall,
if you'd like to know how to make one go here.

I shared an inexpensive framing tip here.

If you're thinking I like the look but I don't have that many white books,
think again!
Maybe you have some of these?

Or, guess what color the inside of your book jackets are?
Just turn them over!

I even used a lot of paperbacks, just be sure you place them strategically
and no one will ever know.

I hope you're inspired to spiff up your
place for spring!

I can't quit staring at the last photo of your full wall. So pretty! You need to throw your "way before" picture up with that. You've inspired me to redo my mantle today. I usually don't do anything special for spring, but our grass is ready and that's where it's headed!

Love the tip on 'finding' books to use! Who would have thought! When I started reding this post my first thought was, " I am SO posting a comment asking you to PLEASE talk about finding books that work and then, 2 seconds later- there was your secret! I will have to take a run to GW to search for books to re-purpose! Thanks for sharing this great, 'simple' tip! WHO KNEW? Love the clean classic look in your home and you are now one of my fav's!

Looks good! I like the white books - have looked at ideas like that for a long time.
My living room needs some spiffing up - unfortunately what it really needs is some new furniture so it's a challenge to like what it looks like when i can't just go out and get the furniture it needs! oh well, someday...

That is magazine vignette worthy neutral goodness Pam! Your shelves are my inspiration for a mantle and built-ins someday. I even found a little creature that I might purchase to include on my shelves.

I love your collection of white pottery, Pam. I would love to have built-ins to display my collections- I only have a small corner one in my dining room. Having the books with spines on the inside is a great idea.

Pam, everything looks so fresh and springy! You really have a knack for displaying pieces! I haven't done any spring decorating yet but since it is almost 70 degrees today I am really in the mood!

I think this is just what my living room needs - a pop of green colour to welcome spring! Off to check out how to grow it now (hope it's easy and difficult to kill because I have black thumbs)!
