It was a gorgeous spring weekend in Denver, and I'm itching to get outside and
plant my pots and window boxes and get our deck ready for summer get-togethers.
The good news is the kitchen project is wrapping up and will be ready for photos
later today, and then I'll be out there digging in the dirt.
We've had a black front door for as long as I can remember,
and I'm taken with the idea of painting it a fun color!
It all started when I found a cool lion's head door knocker at HomeGoods recently,
and before you know it I was contemplating a refresh of our front door...

Isn't he great, it's large, heavy and would be pretty in gold.

What do you think,
are there any eye-catching lively doors in your neighborhood?

Love the idea of painting your front door a fun color. Great buy on the lions head door knocker.
What color are you thinking?
yes! i am a fun door color girl so i say YES!
Love the door knocker and oh yes, it would be so fab gold! Can't wait to see your kitchen Pam!
Pam we are thinking about the same thing...I'm itching to paint my front door too!! Love that green door!!
Just make sure your color coordinates nicely with your gorgeous tulips so when BHG wises up and adds you to their publishing list, it'll be cover worthy!
No lively doors but I want one! I just attached my giant brass fox door knocker over the weekend and I love it! Only need to find a brass knocker striking plate yet.
Great idea! I bought that knocker a while back and then realized it wouldn't work on any of my doors. :( It will look fabulous in gold!
I love it. Those two things...green door and lion knocker...I've been pinning the crap out of lately! xo
I love the green door. There is a house in our neighborhood with an orange door that looks great, I complimented the owner on it, she said it was the only thing she told her husband she had to have in the house, everything else was negotiable!
We have neighbors with an acid lime green door against creamy white bricks- it is stunning.
Our house has a BORING stained door that I want painted but for some reason my husband only believes in stain. Brown stain. Hate it.
I love bright red doors...and I love your new door knocker...
That is the beauty of a white house with black shutters - you could do any door color!!! I saw the most amazing teal blue when I was on Martha's Vineyard with Hannah this weekend, would that not be gorgeous with that awesome lion's header knocker painted gold? Or a bright green like your first photo, gorgeous!!! If you do paint the door give your paint sprayer a whirl on that project, I used mine on the front door last fall and love how it came out! (and how easy it was).
I love the idea of a fun door! We are in the process of renovations too, and I am dying for a bold color. Love the green and yellow. Also, I can not get over the Lions head your found. What a steal! Our last name is Lyons - I think that would be so neat to have on the door.
I love when people paint their doors a bright color! Our house is a yellowish/ivory color and our door is black. I think the black goes best with my house color but if we ever repaint the house - that door is changing too! Love the lion head!

My own...it's purple/eggplant with a solid brass door knocker. How can I send you a picture?
Go for it! I am happier every time I walk through it. :)
Hi Pam,
What a find! I can see now in all his glory nailed to a front door. Now, what color will you choose?

I LOVE bright front doors. It would look awesome on your adorable home. What a fun way to add a fresh look this spring! :)
I'm wanting to paint our door too, I'm thinking yellow or orange. I've been wanting to get a lions head knocker, too! So many projects...
The lion head door knocker is a jewel! In gold, it will be awesome! It would look striking and classic on your black door, but if you want a pop of color I would go with red.
LOVE the door knocker! I've had my door a variety of colors over the years, red, brown, yellow and now it is more or less a robins egg blue and I love it, LOVE IT, LOVE IT! Most people in my neighborhood don't have colored doors - they are either some shade of brown or black though a neighbor down the street just painted theirs purple - and it looks GREAT. Go with what you want after all, it is just paint! I can't wait to see the outcome.
I've been playing around with the idea of a bright front door lately too. I'm thinking of going for green or red! Love the color in the first picture!
I'm guessing your so done with your Kitchen Pam since your already planning your next project! Hooray! Can't wait to see it! As for the door, I'm lovin' that kelly green one!
Loving that door knocker - I haven't ever seen any of those at our HomeGoods. So impressed that your done with your kitchen with time to spare - can't wait to see it!
I love a bright and happy door! My neighbors have painted their front door the most fun teal and I'm loving it!
Love painted doors. Mine is red on a gray painted brick house with black shutters and white trim. Consider colors that work with your flowers and will work with your Christmas decor.
I am so jealous. I just ordered a door knocker for 10 times the price. Our Homegoods may have stoves and kayaks but no door knockers!!
I'd love a door that is something besides black. I go around and around with it, though, as I can never figure out what would work with our brick.
There is a door not far from my house that is the most amazing shade of deep coral. I keep telling myself that I'm going to knock on their door and ask what color it is. Love your new knocker. :)
Love a front door that is painted a color ~ so fun and inviting! Can't wait to see what you choose. The knocker is great!

Love the spit green door, it looks like it really would look cool with that lions-head door knocker. I think the yellow is a cool color, would only match certain house paints but it certainly does draw in the attention when you are driving by the house. I am a huge fan of green because it tends to go with everything.
