new coffee table...yay or nay?

I've been shopping for design clients a lot lately, my favorite! :)
But the hazards of the job fell upon me yesterday!
I knew this unusual coffee table I saw at HomeGoods would work for a couple of different
spaces, so I added it to my pile before anyone could steal it. When I got home I decided to
bring it in to test it for my clients - very baaaaad idea!
It's so unique, has an awesome texture, and a rustic global vibe, but yesterday
and I started thinking, there are a lot of right angles going on in here, maybe I need
 something round or oval instead.
On the other side of the room I do have a bergere chair and ottoman with soft curves.

Sorry for the bad photo I took it in the evening and hadn't anticipated sharing it.

What do you think, yay or nay for my space?
Btw, my feelings won't be hurt if its not your style, it's just a coffee table!

Happy Weekend and Happy Mother's Day!!

I love the coffee table, it's really pretty and fits quite nicely. If you keep it I would turn it 45 degrees. But I can also see a round poofy ottoman in your beautiful space too.

New to your blog, btw, saw you on Petticoat Junktion. Love your work.

Sorry, I think I meant turn it 90 degrees. duh...

I love it. I suits perfectly with other furniture and looks fun and stylish. Very unique!

sorry to be the naysayer but don't like it for your space. too cold looking for my taste!

It's so unique and I really like it. It almost looks like an ottoman covered in fabric. I say yes!

I love it!

I love your style but I think I have to give a thumbs down to the table. Too much white and I am not sure of the texture.

I like this piece. Yes, there are lots of right angles going on. So top it with a nice cheerful, large scale ROUND tray! And from what I have seen on your fab blog, you will zhush it all up with great but "simple details!" Love what you do.

Oh I spotted that table at my local HG as well and I fell in love with it too!
It really looks works with what you have going on and the texture is so pretty.
I do agree with your reader above that maybe you should turn it?
Having said that all that, I do prefer a round table with a sectional...
I know, I'm no help at all!

I love that table so much I can easily overlook the angles. The texture is fabulous! Have a great Mother's Day weekend Pam!

Like the table but I think you're spot on about the right angles. I'm sure you could make it work but feel like you could find something even better!

I think the round tray idea is spot on1

It is obvious that you love the table enough to take it home...I would try accessorizing it first and then step back and see how you like it...it is a beautiful table...accessories with various shapes, textures may yay or nay your decision...

This works for me! Happy Mother's Day!

Love this table, but I'm wondering if something with legs might open up the space a bit? Feels slightly heavy. I'm famous for buying and returning stuff, so I'd probably style it up, live with it for a bit and decide. I would also probably bring in another option for comparison. Happy Mother's Day by the way!

Oh, and I love your mix of pillows!!

I've seen that coffee table and I am wild about it! I love the texture in there, but alas, I do vote for round and softer lines. I could use it in my sunroom- send it on over! You'll figure out the perfect solution...you always do! have a great weekend and Mothers Day!xoxo

I would say I agree with you and your friend's initial thought that round or oval might be better with all the straight lines going on, Pam. Better you bought it and tried it out anyway. I usually regret it and then when I go back it's gone {especially at Home Goods}.

What a unique piece with perfect coloring and texture for your room! Having said that, I am leaning towards something with softer lines. Could you put it in a different spot?

I'm sure you could accessorize it perfectly...and it is a very unique and stylish coffee table. That being said...I'd have to go with round or oval...I think it would fit your sectional better! ;)

Love the table but knowing your space, I think maybe something a little more glamorous and round/oval. Maybe something with a little brass/gold exposed.

I'm trying to remember what you had there before. Is that where your ivory painted table was or was that in the other room? I'm not sure what it is about it but I'm not a big fan of this one, I think everyone is right that something rounded would be better. And maybe a different color tone... Just my $0.02!

I live in Tx and have seen this wonderful coffee table too. I do not know you but know you have a son. I erroneously purchased a new coffee table that added texture to my room. Alas, I pulled out my old and sturdy one because it's the only one that has held up to 4 children's legs. I've since painted it, and a re-paint is on the way. The one you have looks indestructible!

I absolutely love this table! Saw it at TJ maxx awhile back but decided against it. Now that said, umm I don't think it fits your space... it makes things a bit too busy and the angles are just, well kinda wrong. Round, rounded, or even oval might help with the flow a bit. I can see this in a more sparse, modern space. Sorry....

I love it Pam! Wonderful texture and works perfectly with the rest of the decor.

Have a nice weekend and Happy Mother's Day:)

Love the piece and for me it is not so much the angles, but the masiveness of it. Something leggy might work better on there, round or not.... just my 2 cents!!!!

I'd have to say I'd keep it. I like that it's casual looking and so is your sectional. It has a relaxed vibe that goes well with the rest of the room. It brings in some texture that is nice. Just my 2 cents.

You now have about 30 suggestions!
Do what your gut says it right!
Do the morning test.
I thought the idea of a round tray was good.
What is it made out of?
Have fun....not being in the space is a big handicap on any ideas.
The table is unique. If it doesn't work, keep it if you can and there will always be a home for it down the road.

I love how unique it is and the awesome texture! Maybe if you went with a glass/brass oval table here, and this could possibly work in another room. I do love the table, and I'm sure it would work in your home. I know you will do something amazing, whatever you choose! :)

And Happy Mother's Day! :)

i like it, but i think it totally steals the room now... like it is the piece in the room. if you want a statement coffee table, then it totally works, but if you want something to work with the rest of the room, i think softer and rounder, too. :)

It is beautiful, you were right to snatch it up. But I think a round shape would be better fitting for the space. Hopefully you have another spot for this treasure, it is beautiful!

I like it but it is hard to see it from that photo...

Sew a Fine Seam said...

My first response was I LOVE it! And the longer I looked at it the more I felt that way. The round lamp shade helps a bit with the right angles. I'm sure seeing the whole room makes a difference too though and I know whatever you decide will be beautiful! And at the end of the day - it's the homeowner who has to look at it all the time so what they like ultimately trumps!

Love the coffee table, great texture and so unique but I think either something round or square would work better with your sectional or maybe a fabulous gold/glass coffee table, but then again I have a thing for gold ;)

Naz said...

It's a little too boxy for my likes but I'm not there to see it in person. Personally I'd prefer something round.

Go round, definitely round.

Happy Mother's Day to a beautiful mom, inside and out. Conner is one lucky teenager, that's for sure!

Round coffee table is my vote if the space is a bit tight. Too many bumped knees otherwise!

Whew, must have done something wrong, was confused when it asked for a sign in to comment. Happy Mother's Day Pam!

Joanieliza said...

Hmmmmm. Definiteyl a nice table on its own but seems to add too much "chunk" to the room for my taste. Maybe something lighter or more airy? Hoping your Mother's Day was grand!

I love the table and must have one! How can I find it? Maker name or style?
