$4 evergreen for the kitchen...

After being inspired by yesterday's post potted evergreen...inside
I found a cute Arborvitae at Home Depot for $4.
A new vignette in the kitchen was in order,
sadly before I got home and plopped it in the pot finished it the rain started in.
I waited till about 7:30 for it to clear up, and finally had to take my photos.
Sorry for the bad pics, lighting, shadows, etc. I'll replace them tomorrow.

It's three feet tall, and gives the space a big dose of green texture.
Black stripes are on the to-do list for that pot, too!

A few of you were curious whether it would live inside. Since I wasn't sure I didn't
pot it in soil, leaving it to easily take outside for water and sunshine as needed.

Simple, inexpensive and packs a punch of nature till things start blooming
around here!

Hi Pam! It looks like a cypress and definitely, it will live indoors! Especially since you've got it in a sunny location! Pot it in soil and it will live much longer! Let soil dry a little in between waterings. =o)
Great thing about evergreens is that you have an instant little tree to help decorate your space for the holidays! =o)

Love it! And I'm sure it'll grow if you keep it by the window.

It looks like the perfect size for the spot, too, Pam! The stripes will look great on that pot. Are you going horizontal or vertical?

Looks perfect! It's always nice to have a spot of green indoors and if that guy is going to survive, it seems to be in the perfect location! Keep us posted, I may just have to try this myself!

Clever idea, looks so nice and the pot is perfect for it! That is the same cypress variety a friend gave us in a little pot at Christmas, should be good indoors. Beautiful styling as usual!

Love the hit of green. I'm interested to see how it does indoors (I haven't had much luck with evergreens in general around here!).

You really are an inspiration Pam- this is what it's all about, inspiring one another. I got a bunch of $8. boxwoods from your suggestion at HD and am greening my deck and indoors. Found some $8 orchids at Ikea yesterday! Have a great day!
