my boxwood mistake...

Tonight I was re-potting my boxwoods. :(
I'm sharing the silly mistake I made ~ I was so anxious to get them potted
last weekend when we had our marathon boxwood planting that I mindlessly started
in, and I didn't make any adjustment for the height.

So...if you're going for the more formal trimmed look on the right remember to sink
your plant down in the pot about 1/3 lower than the typical height of the pot on the left!

The rain started in before I could finish...
one of these days our deck is going to be ready for summer!

How's your progress ~ BBQ ready yet?

It's still very pretty! :)

It's better to sink every plant in a little anyway because of watering them. I made the same mistake and the water ran off all the time.
Look wise I like them both.

We bought lots of boxwood this year and have yet to get them planted. Thanks for the tip....

Excellent tip Pam! You are still light years ahead of us in the outdoor department!:)

I like both looks but they are very different aren't they?! I've done the same thing - planted something in a pot and then decided I didn't plant it deep enough and had to start over.

Thinking of doing boxwoods in my planters this year. Do they need to be in the shade or can they withstand some sun? (Thanks for the planting tip by the way!).

Didn't even notice that you repotted it wrong, it still looks good Pam. Barbecue not ready yet, have to though this weekend so we can have a memorial day barbecue! Hope yours will be awesome!

I would have never noticed! Nothing like doing a job well...twice. Happens way too often around here. :)

So easy to do! It's amazing what a difference little details like potting plants lower makes. They are going to look fab when you are finished!

I have made that same mistake and repotted ours on the front porch this spring. They just did not look right. Good tutorial!

Have a great Memorial Day weekend, Pam! Our youngest is graduating high school and NYC daughter is in town!

So that's how it's done. Thanks Pam! I've got some work to do over this Holiday weekend. Need to fix some of my mistakes!!!
Have a great week, and thanks for the tip.

I love the final version. Hopefully it was worth the extra work for you! We're getting rain all Memorial Day weekend - so no BBQs :( Hope you're able to get outside and use your lovely space out there!

Good tip. I just planted some in pots and they look like yours on the left, but I really like that look on the right. Going to fix that right now!
