I thought I'd share this funny incident that took place in our home yesterday morning.
In case you didn't realize the reality of life with a diy blogger isn't always as polished as it
appears in the pretty blog pictures!
Mr. Simple was sitting at the computer quickly scrolling through reading my blog
post with the pictures of the fresh, current radiant orchid look, remember?
I hear him say, "That's our living room?"
This was the scene pre-blog photo, I had taken everything out of the coat closet for
painting and piled it in the living room. While Mr. Simple was engrossed in the football
game a few feet away I moved it all out of the way and staged the pretty photo for my
blog post AND moved it all back!
Look close, you'll notice the similarities? :)
When he turned around to check out our stylish, clean living room he was met
with the more recognizable mountain of clutter!
Good motivation for finishing the closet, wouldn't you say?

Thanks for keeping it real. Now I'm itching to see what you do to your coat closet!
That is too funny Pam! If our houses were perfect all the time no real life would be getting lived there, so I say, let's make a mess! (and then clean it up :) ) Can't wait to see your closet, it must be immense with all the stuff that you were able to get in there!!!!!!!
LOL, that's funny!
Can't wait to see the closet!
oh i LOVE this. makes me feel a boatload better. ;)
Ha!! I'm guilty of moving things around to get pretty pictures! Too funny...
To pretty up one space in your house, another one invariably has to get messier, right?! Thanks for keeping it real!
This is great! I love when bloggers keep it real. That is pretty much what my apt looks like all of the time.
Lol...now that is funny!
Ha! Love this! I can totally relate Pam!!
That is so, so funny and TRUE!
It makes me feel better knowing that this happens to other people! I would love to have my home perfectly done up everyday-- but life gets in the way!
Yes! That's the reality of it:) ..and our husbands are engrossed in the football (go Seahawks!)
LOL...don't feel bad Pam my house looked like that for almost a week when I was taking all my Christmas stuff down!
Best.blogpost.ever! hee hee! You're the energizer bunny to do all that work for a photo. Yet again, you inspire us all.
I love your blog read it daily.... I just noticed the chair in the pic above. I love the combination of leopard print and beige with white flowers. Is that something you did or buy that way? Would you share the fabric names?? I've got two chairs that need a make-over and that would be perfect.
hilarious. I don't think my husband would voluntarily read our blog, but he does notice even the slightest change I make ( now that he's retired and home all the time!) Not only that, but he suddenly has a big opinion about decorating, which he never cared a bit for. Im still thinking it's funny- ask me in 6 more months. I love your living room! xo Nancy
thanks for the reality check. :) made me feel better about the legos and books etc that are strewn throughout my house :)
Kallen - thanks so much for reading! :) I bought that chair at a garage sale years ago (maybe 12) and had it reupholstered professionally at the time. Sorry, I don't have the exact fabrics, but this Cheetah @ Calico Home is similar:

Let me know if you recover yours I'd love to see them!
Thank goodness it's not just me! :)
Haha! Love it. Gorgeous room.
LOL at least your hubby noticed the pile!
Ha! Ha! Please don't go in our guest room and my hubby's office for the next few months....
Looks familiar. Still beautiful, though!
Funny! Sometimes for my blog pics, just 1/4 inch off camera is a pile of dirty dishes!
Even your clutter looks stylish. Tell that to Mr. Simple.
pve
I can so relate to this. We just cleaned out our coat closet and there was stuff everywhere! My husband doesn't usually say much, but my mom regularly complains about me serving her dinner on paper plates when she knows I just set a perfectly nice table setting that she saw on my blog.
Can't wait to see your closet!
ah,ah,ah !!!!! just like home !!!!
OMG, that is hilarious! I'm actually impressed your husband reads your blog, even if it is quickly skimming. My husband gets my posts by email, so I now he should read them, but I'll occasionally test him on something that was in a post and it's so evident he didn't read them :)
