Hey everyone, hope you had a wonderful weekend. It was a great one for all of us
Denver Bronco fans. : ) I made progress on adding some pizazz to my closet and finally
decided on stripes which meansI'm crazy, it's a coat closet it's a tad more time consuming.
So I changed gears and thought I'd share how I've embraced the radiant orchid trend by
incorporating a beautiful unexpected find at Home Depot, a diy, and my favorite black and
white Ikea pillows in our living room.
This ikat fabric has been one of my favorites forever, I'd ordered a sample from
Calico several months ago and was hoping it would work with my bedroom makeover,
but no luck. After seeing a pillow made up with pom-pom trim I knew
I could create one using my sample as the front and a different fabric on the reverse
side, I used burlap. The sample was $8 and trim $4 at Joanns. Although it isn't quite
orchid, it worked well with my other two that are. They were from World Market, I added
the Greek Key trim and had used them in the One Room Challenge Bedroom Reveal,
a lucky coincidence they're orchid!
I lined my acrylic tray with a magetic anomoly map that I had used for wrapping paper.
The other day I was walking through Home Depot and noticed these gorgeous plants
displayed in a center aisle and ON SALE for $10!! A lot of bang for the buck, it is over
30" tall, and can be grown indoors or out. A happy surprise and perfect compliment to
the orchid.

I wasn't sure if I was a fan of Pantone's new color of the year, Raidant Orchid,
but I'm loving the fresh, current look in these small doses and the great Home Depot
find that helped pull it together.

they look so good in there! i love that you can change the whole look of the living room just with pillows! looks so refreshed!
Not loving this color yet. I think small doses of radiant orchid is all I can handle, as in the accents you used. What you did is very pretty. Love the plant you found.
I love that fabric, Pam! While I'm not a huge fan of orchid in large doses, I love it in smaller ones. It reminds me of spring, which I'm already wishing for right now. I saw some pieces in Target that use orchid in a subtle way, and they're getting my wheels turning!
I do not like the color at all except on the REAL live orchid (plant). However, your room looks pretty and I hope you enjoy it.
Pam that pop of color looks so lovely in your living room! It's funny how radiant orchid is being received, isn't it? I actually really like it, in small doses like you've done. I think it's happy, dramatic and would be a fabulous complement to a neutral decor like yours or paired with navy or a limey or chartreuse green. I'm loving your ikat pillow!!!!!
Love it! While I never jumped on last years emerald train (loved it) because I just didn't like it in my home. I have been riding the radiant orchid train for a while. Looks great in your home! That pillow is gorgeous!
Love that fabric…so great to have a neutral palette that you can add any color…your room always looks beautiful ..
Happy Monday, Pam! I love ALL the details of your room! You did a great job! Love the pillow in there and with the pom-poms - and mixed with the black-n-white -Simply Irresistible! Have a great day.
I didn't think I was that big of a fan of Radiant Orchid but you've made me a convert! Love your new pillow and HD plant - Home Depot is on my to-do list this week so I'll be checking to see if they have any at mine!
Loving the pop of orchid in your room. The pom pom is my favorite! I made a note in my phone yesterday to run through Lowes to look for a cheery house plant. I did the same last january and amazingly that thing is still alive!
You have the perfect touch of Radiant Orchid! Love it paired with black & white and that you found the plant which also boasts the color, proving that it can, indeed be found in nature!!!
Oh, I love the plant! And, your thriftiness to make a high end pillow for a low end price is the best. Can't say that I'm jumping on the radiant orchid train but I've also learned to never say never!
Love the pops of orchid. The perfect way to incorporate the current IT color!! xo
Love your new orchid accessories. I am looking forward to getting out all my stuff when we "start over". Right now I'm in staging mode and everything is barely decorated! Boring, but necessary.
Pam, you're living room looks gorgeous! Love the pillow!!
Glad you enjoyed the game yesterday! We New Englanders are looking forward to the big match up. :)
It looks great...makes me ready for spring!
I love how you used this color. I know it's not popular, but I'm a fan of the orchid. I did my guest bathroom in it ( with a lot of white and some chartreuse) and I love it.
I was excited when this was announced, but I do love how you used it. Small doses work and it is a nice way to bring in a 'spring-y" feeling. xo Kristin
*not excited sorry typing too fast!
I always have orchids in the house. It's so dark and grey here in Seattle, I need flowers!! and orchids last a while. HD is great! You can always find great deals on the plants. Your pillows and table look so fresh and pretty .. love the gold touches.
Looks beautiful. I love this color in small doses. You did it perfectly.
You put the perfect dose of it in your home Pam, love it! I love the color, but I would rather see it in my clothing, not yet brave enough for it in my home. I'm going for the indigo trend so far with my winter look, still tweaking before I share. :-) Enjoy your pretty space!
Your pillows are magazine worthy- so luxe! And I love that plant. I have been wanting to go to Home Depot to find some fun greenery.
Love it Pam, the key is small doses. Love that plant! Have a great week. xo Nancy
genius DIY with that tray! and Ikat print with pompoms? to freaking fab. I love and have used that black and white Ikea pillow as well. and what a great way to work in that radiant orchid! how do you think that color will do this year?
Purple isn't really my thing in the home - somehow I feel like it clashes with all my stuff. BUT I really love how you used it here. And I love it in my wardrobe :)
Pam, it looks really beautiful. Just small changes can make such a difference. I always look forward to your blog - you have amazing taste. Thanks for sharing.
LOVE LOVE that pillow!! It adds such a pretty pop of color!
So incredibly gorgeous, Pam! I love how you can change your look so easily just by switching out your accessories. That color looks great in your room!
It looks so good in your living room! I love the color, but then again I did paint my office purple :)
My favorite color is purple and I love the radiant Orchid. I think it does look much prettier with accents like your pillows and plant. I love that room! Love the black and white pillow on the left...
Beautiful! I'm over from Vintage Revivals and I thought the thumbnail must have been your inspiration picture because it looked like from a magazine...then when I clicked over I realized that no, it was your actual living room!! So pretty! And I love that you added that plant from Home Depot too : )
Pam, your living room is gorgeous. I like the way you've used the orchid color, and accessories is what I've been suggesting to my clients, not major parts of the room. Looks like you're ready for spring- looks so fresh!
I love how you used the orchid color in your flowers, plant and pillow fabrics! It's really beautiful! When you tire of it, it's an easy fix to change out pillows. Honestly I don't think I would ever get old of a pillow with ball fringe! HaHa!
I love how you incorporated this color, it's got great impact in small doses and the ikat pattern is so pretty. Also love the hawaiian ti leaf plant!I so enjoy your blog and ideas Pam, even if you are a Broncos fan. ;) From, Sharon in Seattle
Your room is so awesome!
