paperwhites...it's time

I know you don't want to think about it before Halloween,
but the holidays are sneaking up on us! :)
I bought my paperwhite bulbs at Home Depot today, they couldn't be easier to
plant and force for beautiful blooms in December. A pretty addition to your decor or
to give as a gift. I'm planting mine within the next few days to insure they'll be blooming
for my annual Christmas party in early December.

These are the same bulbs I buy every year, but $1 less this year, go figure???
If you've never forced them before you can follow my instructions from last year here.

The container options are endless, here are a few ideas,

This year I'm doing something similar to this with a modern twist.
I'll show you in a week or so. :)

Thanks for the reminder! I tend to forget to plant them until it's too late. Can't wait to see what you do with yours this year.

Thank you for the reminder and these are beautiful examples on what to do with them! I love your small footed urn for the coffee table, it has nice height and texture with the paperwhites in it. This post makes me excited for the holidays!

All these ideas are so pretty. I love the look, but mine always fall over plus I'm not wild about the smell.

Hi Pam, Good reminder! Will check out HD next time. We love them but some people find them stinky. There is a way to keep them from getting too tall, adding alcohol to stunt their growth. Read how here-

Ok, I am GOING to plant these this year. Every time I see them on your blog they look so amazingly beautiful...I have to give it a shot.

So pretty. I have never planted anything for Christmas. I'm always scared that my cats will eat it and get sick ;)

Thanks for the reminder and beautiful planting ideas, Pam. My daughter and I plant them every year but I want to change it up this year after seeing these ideas for planters. The photos of your house at Christmas are magazine-worthy. I hope the pearls on the reindeer become a tradition!

I was told by someone at the local garden center that the Chinese type (available at garden centers) don't smell as much.

Since I'm no big gardener I always plant these or amaryllis for the holidays! Great ideas on the containers, my juices are up and would probably use my brass of milk glass for these this year! Happy planting!
