bamboo chest...paint or natural stain

The bamboo chest, what to do???
If you missed it yesterday, I was in the right place at the right time,
and now own a beautiful bamboo chest that needs a makeover.

I love this one...

Worse than that decision is trying to decide what to do with it,
I truly don't have a spot for it!
It's in the middle of our living room and the garage is full.
Such problems, huh?

HAPPY WEEKEND, everyone!
Thanks so much for stopping by, you're wonderful!

Too many choices. I do like them all, but the black one and the natural one on leeannthorton's blog is great too with the granite on top. Love that. Hope you could decide what to do with it soon and share. Have a wonderful weekend. Ana

Oh these are all gorgeous!!! I'm not even going to tell you what my vote is, I bet you can guess. Hope you find the perfect spot for it in your house!!! Happy weekend and have fun working on this, my loveliness!

No place for it.....I'll take it off your hands in a heartbeat! I love the black/gold one and then the natural one with the beautiful woven lamp on it. Believe you said the top has burn marks on it...if stain won't hide the burn marks maybe an awesome lamp will. Again, I'll make your decision easy and pick it up as soon as I can get on the road!

Yup, I'll take it too if you don't have room for it ;)
And this is such a tough one because I'd like to have one of each. They all look great!

I really love the look of either natural but if you are going to paint I say go all the way and go white, its gorgeous in white!

What a great find! Although I love the Coral example I'd be afraid to get tired of it too quickly so maybe white or black or maybe blue? Oh such problems:)

I would have done the same thing Pam :) Sometimes gorgeous things have to wonder home with you...even if you don't "need" them. xo Kristin

I love the natural look, The variation is so interesting. Maybe paint the top if the damage isn't repairable. Anything you do will be fabulous!!

Love the natural too but I know that is alot of work to restain! I agree with Tina, either a great white, or I love your choice of classic black too!
Good Luck cant wait to see the reveal!!

I like the natural, but that first image is perfection!

A tough decision for sure! Have a great weekend, Pam!

Normally I would go with black or white, but the burl ones are sure catching my eye now. Have a wonderful weekend, Pam!

What a great find! I was inclined to say leave it natural until I saw how great they look painted! I love the black one in the first photo!

I wouldn't paint the whole piece, you lose too much detail, I think someone would have already suggested saving the 4 pulls for the bottom 2 drawers, and putting 2 new on the first drawer. And maybe paint the top the dark shade of the bamboo....but I would be tempted to just wax the top and put a plate or tray on the top of the burn marks...out of sight out of mind! :) Wonderful find!

Love the natural, but I'd say it should be painted if you already have a lot of wood going on already. Good luck!

I'd paint it if it were mine, because of the blemish on top and the painted ones in the pictures sing a prettier song. Painting a new color is easy and strippable if you change your mind.

I like the first one. when I first saw it, my first thought was that you would paint it black and that seems like it'd be your style.

LucKy you, I love it! I think I would paint the top black and maybe a little more, like the legs ( then assess) and stain the rest. You've GOT to keep it! Have a great weekend!

Will be fun to see what you do with it! I prefer the stained one with the white top. What about a darker stain and a stone top, perhaps a leftover piece from a stone store? Can it fit in in the bay window of your bedroom?

Vel Criste said...

Yup, it is confusing, but I would go with painting it if the stain is not great for the space!

Linda {Calling it Home} said...

I think I would stain this one.

oh wao! its gorgeous! I think a stain....but the pinks and corals are amazing too.

My vote is the tangerine! Cream is in 2nd place (because you can do anything with that color over the years) What a great find!

Wow... All great looks! The black painted is classic and almost every room can use a touch of black... rather timeless. The painted ones are fun and trendy and the mind goes crazy with creative color palettes. The stained ones are rich and filled with character... again, timeless. What a lovely find! Excited to see what you decide and the setting it's finds a home in. I'm certain it will be magnificent. Have a most lovely weekend!

You're funny! Certainly you have a client who needs a new piece, right?!

Your dresser is gorgeous! Maybe a leather upholstery on the top? I don't know. I would take as long as you need to think about it. Also, I am in love with the little spotted creature bookends (can't see what they are) on the first photo, and the art in the last photos is amazing!

I am leaning towards the black but if you can hide the marks on top, then I love a dark brown stain. Can't wait to see what you do!

I was scrolling down and the picture that made me stop in my tracks was the first natural bamboo chest. Wow. Gorgeous.
