girl's dorm room decor...

I'm glad you all got a little chuckle from my 'Bad luck at Goodwill' post yesterday!

Helping out with a dorm room was a fun project that came together quickly.
I pulled together a few items that would tie together gray and citron
bedding with turquoise accents. I shopped my favorite stores Homegoods, Ikea, and Target.

I started with the bedding they chose,
(the floral pillows in the center are the shams and accent pillow) and added some
graphic punch with the chevron and geometric pillow to bring the accent color.

Every room needs some texture.
The furry Mongolian lamb pillow and super soft, chunky weave rug were just what it needed.
The variegated colors in the rug (Target) will be perfect for hiding dirt, too.

An oversize piece of artwork for above the bed makes a pretty, bold statement.

The ombre lampshade repeats her color scheme.

It will give her a foundation to add some personal touches and accessories.
Wonder if boys do this? :)

I love all the different patterns pulled together by the accent colour. The rug is gorgeous.

Love those colors all together. The green and aqua are common colors for dorms for some reason. You see those specific colors at Target for going back to school. Even Joann fabrics has them in the going back to school section, with bins and accessories for the lockers. And the gray will look great as well. Good color choices. Ana

Too fun! Much more stylish than my dorm room many years ago...though I painted my first piece of furniture for that dorm room! If only boys were as much fun - I think I'll be lucky if they bring matching sheets!!

I think her room will be the cutest one in the dorm! You are so good at pulling together such great combos! Where is the furry pillow from? I saw one at Ross not long ago and am kicking myself for not getting it!

Adorable!

Nope, boys don't do this! It is so fun to walk down the halls of the dorm and see the girls decorated rooms.

Great ideas! Boys are so funny.. I remember when I dropped my son off at the Frat house and seeing some of the mom's decorating (or trying to) their rooms. The girls were doing all kinds of creative things with the small space their were allotted.

This post just made me smile! I love the color combo and the details! It also made me smile because it reminded me of when I moved my son into his dorm -- I asked him if he wanted to go look for some cool stuff for his dorm, and he said 'no -- just get me a navy blue comforter and I'm good'.

Love the color combination. My son is off to college this fall and we'll be shopping for a few items to make it feel like home. I'm not sure boys are as picky about this sort of thing as girls, but I guess I'll find out!

Such pretty colors.

My son wanted nothing to do with decorating his dorm room. Which also included having me do nothing to decorate his dorm room. Prior to this like any good mother, I provided him with 3 mood boards on possible room color schemes and products we could purchase. He rolled his eyes, said "Mother I'm not you" (ouch) and walked out of the room. I'm lucky I could convince him that he HAD to buy a towel (really two but he thought only one was necessary so one it was). Sheets were questionable also. I mean really? You sleep on clean sheets at home. You want to sleep on that plastic coated lumpy mattress pad - no sheets? Ok, OK, sheets are needed but just plain ones, nothing matching. And on it went. It was just shocking the amount of anti-decorating that went on. Oh and I should point out that he has always been fine with the both of us decorating his room at home. So this college attitude was a shocker.

Such a pretty and cheerful color palette! I remember working on our room decor with my new college roommate before we even met! Nothing like this though! Lucky college kid!

Wow that is going to be one awesome dorm room. Just hope the room mate is as stylish as she will be. Luckily I had 3 daughters, so decorating was always a must when it came to their dorms or their apartments.
