Wasn't last week fun? Can you believe all the amazing makeovers
we get to follow, I knew we were in for a treat with this group!
An unexpected plumbing problem put a damper on the progress over here this week.
A simple clogged drain, turned into mr. simple taking things apart and not being able
to re-assembled them, I've mentioned he's not handy, right?
(He's lucky he's cute!)
I always know we're in trouble when he asks Detail Boy to come take a look!
Call the plumber = no painting the vanity for two days

I always know we're in trouble when he asks Detail Boy to come take a look!
Call the plumber = no painting the vanity for two days
Call the Roto Rooter = no painting the vanity another day
The plan was to show you finished stripes and at least one coat on the vanity...
the good news, the stripes are finished, and the vanity started...sanded, caulk removed
from sink and about five minutes of painting.
from sink and about five minutes of painting.
I used my favorite Frog Tape, and a level to achieve the straight lines. To ensure sharp
lines without any bleeding the trick is to first paint the base coat, Navajo White over
the edge of the tape before applying the main color, Benjamin Moore's Powell Buff.
It adds an additional step, but is worth it for the results.
LOVE these crisp lines!
The vanity was originally a dresser I found and had re-fitted for use by cutting a hole
for the sink and plumbing. In order to take advantage of as much storage as possible
I had the drawers re-configured as shown below, which still allowed room for the pipes.
I have use of a full drawer at the bottom and one smaller drawer at the top.
(That really isn't grunge under the sink, some sort of over spray.)
Next week....the finished vanity and a surprise with paint!
Here's the participant list ~ stop by and check out the progress,
bet we're in for some good stuff today!

love the stripes! been on my list for a while, but I think I've finally conceded to the fact, I'm too darn lazy to do the extra step of stripes;), so I will drool over yours instead!! love how you had the drawers retrofitted for the plumbing, very smart!
Looking forward to seeing the finished product...I wish I had your sense of style...and I am your newest follower.

I am so excited to see that vanity painted! The stripes came out great, love how they pick up the variations in the floor tile!
Love the stripes!! So fresh and crisp!
Bummer about the plumber! I can't believe how much you can accomplish in a week! I love the stripes and soft color. What a professional job.
Oh Pam, I LOVE your stripes! They are perfect! A diy project just wouldn't be fun if you didn't have a few snafus thrown in to put you off a day or two! At least thats the way it works in my house! :)
Those stripes look amazing! I would never have the patience to do that! Can't wait to see that vanity!

Your bathroom is looking awesome and that cabinet is a dream. Thank you for showing how the drawers looked cut to utilize space for storage. Keeping this post in my favorite list.
Very elegant stripes. Is that frog tape like florist tape?
It's looking great already. I love the stripes!
You should be proud of those stripes! super crisp! props to you it's not easy. I've wanted to do that to a vanity forever..this may be my year. Hope your plumbing headaches are over now:)
We did painted stripes in my daughter's room and I know it's not that easy! Yours look fantastic!
love those stripes, the look great. And that vanity, ahhh I cant wait to see what you do with it!
Those stripes look crisp and clean - just right. And very clever and handy to have those drawers configured like that to maximize your storage. We all know we need lots of storage in the bath that's for sure.
OMG Pam I can't wait to see this finished!!
I have Powell Buff in my Family Room and love it. Wish you could further explain how you use a chest as a vanity. Did you reconfigure the drawers or do you have to have a carpenter come in? Can't wait to follow this make over! Great job, Pam.
Oooh, what fun! Love that vanity and those stripes are awesome! x
Love the stripes! I know the plumbing problems added stress to your week. I cannot believe your precision in getting the stripes so clean, it looks great!
So fresh!
Absolutely gorgeous! You are a pro at painting.
I know it doesn't help now but an fyi ~ buy some "Hair and Grease" at Home Depot and use it in all your drains once a month. (Not in the toilets) A friend of mine had a huge plumbing problem and the plumber told her to do that in the future. I've shared it with family & friends and it honestly works miracles. Maybe that will prevent a future problem anyway!
Can't wait to see what's next ~ :)
Pat
