craigslist came through...

I planned on sharing the kitchen remodel today. But, after spending an hour taking photos and
having issues, then going to three stores to find a new camera battery,
I came home empty handed, and ordered one online.
The worst part (besides wasting my day) is my flowers and fruit won't be fresh by the
time I get to take the photos...grrrr!

On to the better part of the weekend...Friday I found some chairs for the dining room.
Not what I originally had in mind, but I loved the detail on the backs and knew
as soon as I saw them, the style would add nice interest to the room.

The table and this buffet came with the deal...$250.
I LOVE the buffet, it's 70 inches long and would fit in my dining or living room.
Mr. Simple had a hard time wrapping his head around what we would do with
the pieces already in those rooms, but I assured him we could try all of them
in a lot of different places and it would work out!  :)

This hutch goes on top of the buffet, and the sweet little elderly lady told me it
was the prettiest part of all. I stupidly mentioned I may not use it and she
relayed that she did the stained glass herself, I immediately took a liking to it
so I wouldn't hurt her feelings!
I can visualize it being a beautifully updated piece with a little paint and
creativity in place of the stained glass.

Maybe something like this...

I'm leaning toward not using the hutch, I think it may make the room feel a little closed in,
but we'll see after we get it home.

We still need to pick everything up, as I hadn't planned on buying a boatload of furniture...
Craigslist can be dangerous!
Have you bought anything you don't need lately?

Would love to find some chairs like this for my already craigslisted dining table:) the buffet is great too! I am a Craigslist addict and I'm constantly finding things I do t necessarily NEED, but it is so hard to pass up a great deal. It's the thrill of the hunt forme. You def got a great deal with this set:)

I'm still in the declutter mode so I haven't bought much of anything besides food lately! I love the stuff you got though and I'm sure you can either find a fun way to use it or put it back on craigslist!

So aggravating when there is camera trouble. Batteries can be a pain. Can't wait to see what you end up doing, I know it will be fabulous! xo

WOW! what a score! I cant wait to see what you do with all of it. I have sooo done that when buying something from someone (usually someone elderly) and I say something stupid like "oh-Im going to paint that or oh, im going to rip that part off" and they are like "wha???"

Love the details and lines of the chairs and buffet. I'm excited to see what you do with them. You could start a business finding gems on Craigslist!

The design on the back of the chairs is wonderful, and I'm sure you'll get that buffet looking gorgeous, too. The hutch might be a bit much, but you'll save the woman's stained glass, won't you? Maybe put it on Craig's List yourself!

This is a great set! Maybe you could modernize the hutch by removing the doors and putting some great fabric of paint behind the shelves??? Can't wait to see what you do.

I agree, I love the chairs and the side board! Yes of course I buy stuff all the time that I think MIGHT work, like a cute x bench from Home Goods this weekend, but it was the wrong scale for my LR and I returned it.
Have a great week, Pam.

What a fantastic deal! Can't wait to see your transformation. Hmm, not sure about the top. I kind of like the buffet pictured with the huge mirror above to make the space feel bigger...

That is a great deal Pam! There are so many great things on Craigs List - I'm glad you had a good transaction. The chairs and the buffet are really great. I wouldn't know what to say about the stained glass either, but you are so kind. I bet you could update that nicely and bring it up to date.

Great finds - and love the white inspiration pics - you'll make them into superstars!

I found a few fabulous pieces from a 95 year old man recently. He was so nice, telling me stories about all the pieces and what he paid for them!! Estate sales are the best places to meet characters.

I actually just sold 2 chairs that I've had for over 15 years. I was just so over them - $450!!!! I will channel that money into flea market and garage sale finds!

This is all very exciting particularly as I am on the hunt for a buffet/console (open with a shelf or two) for my dining room. Such great finds. It will be interesting to see how you transform the piece.

Oh, I'm dying with jealousy that you got such a great find! (Not really, but kinda!) Those lattice doors are so unique, but I think even simple plain glass would be gorgeous once you get it all painted out. And chunky hardware, yes please!
