Now you see it...
...and,
now you don't!
While I'm waiting for some dining chairs to show up on Craigslist I thought I'd move on
to the next project.
'Detail boy' has had a baseball theme room for years, and is overdue for an update.
The brick wallpaper was supposed to emulate the brick wall at Wrigley Field.
Guess who grew up in Chicago going to Wrigley Field?
I suggested a redo several times, but he liked it just how it was!
Finally, I got a, "When are we going to redo my room?"
Woo hoo! Now the hard part, have I ever mentioned detail boy is a tad picky.
Here are a couple inspiration photos I had on my Pinterest board for Boy's Bedrooms
along with his opinion.

I don't like the bed, that little table, or the shade, what is on the wall?

I don't like that mirror, or the map or the beds!

I kind of like the comforter and pillows, but the color of the dresser looks bad and
I don't like those knobs or the bed.

I like those stripes and the pillows, but not those beds or anything else.

No, I wouldn't have that!

I like the bed, but not the shelf or light or table.

I like the bed, but I don't want any bookshelves...
Wish us luck!

Lol, well he seems to know what he doesn't like. Now if only he could come up with a few things he does like!
Can't wait to see where this is headed. He needs to have a little faith in his incredibly talented momma!
Hi Pam,
I'm sure your son will like something soon. Just try working with the colors that he likes. The rest will follow once you have a color combo.

Maybe HE needs to join Pinterest! It would be interesting to see HIS inspiration photos, wouldn't it? Good luck!
Yup, family, the most difficult of clients! Pendy's idea that he should join pinterest is perfect! Who grew up in Chicago...???!!!
oh boy! You have your work cut out for you! Take a deep breath and make sure you have a bottle of good wine around!
Love it! I remember those days. They say boys are "easier" to please, but after raising 3 of them ... I'm going to have to disagree. LOL! Good luck with the makeover - I'm sure he'll love whatever y'all come up with!

You forgot to mention that Detail Boy also shares his mom's great taste so it will end up amazing-no doubt. My guess is that Mr. Simple grew up in Chicago.
I am sure that when you are all done you can find something you both agree on! I sort of gave up creative control when it came to my kid's rooms. I figure that I have an entire house to decorate the way I want, we only have them for a short time + when they move out I can have the entire house the way I want it. Thank God for doors that can remained closed!! xo
You are too funny! I think you will be able to pick elements of these rooms that you both like and combine them into a space he loves to hang out and you are happy to have as part of your home. See what exactly he likes out of the inspiration photos he chose and then interpret them into what you're willing to spend money on.
Oh you are tooooooooooooooooooooooooo funny!!! But you do have your HANDS FULL!!! lol!!!!! at least you know that there are going to be no book shelves! That is so funny because if my son could have every wall shelved he would! I can't wait to see you do the math on his likes and dislikes and come up with the perfect room!!!! (ps...if you think it is clever or dare i even mention the word "crafty" be assured he will hate it! : ) sending hugs and much much luck!!!!
Pam, you had me cracking up! I just loved all of his comments and reminded me of what I just went through with my opinionated son! Good luck! I love the choices you gave him!

Oh my gosh, this is hilarious! He is one tough client. So what exactly does he like? Stripes on the walls, maybe a funky geometric pattern on the pillows, a cool built-in bed, mmm....this is going to be fun!
That was wallpaper?!! Good luck, I think it sounds like fun! I still have my son's empty room to re-do, he's 28 and long gone. I'm a little slow!
That cracked me up! I can so relate, but with my husband. That is exactly how our conversations go. I always tell him that he's my most difficult client. :)
Yes, all Moms can relate to this one. The older they get the less control we seem to have. I guess just going with it is the best option. We never want our kids to feel we aren't listening but at some point things need to get done!
keep us posted

I about had a heart attack...I thought that was real brick that you ripped out!! But ok, it was just wallpaper. Stripping wallpaper ranks right up there with dental work, or stripping furniture, or cleaning house for me! :) Well, at least the boy has some opinions!
