Detail Boy and I had one hour this morning too quickly buzz through Ikea
in search of ideas for his room,
and that included a trip to the restaurant for a breakfast of swedish meatballs...yuck!
It was a success, we have a furniture plan and paint color!
Here are some peeks...
Besta cabinets in black -brown finish above the bed and nightstands flanking the bed
creating a built in look. (No TV, despite persistent negotiating!)
He likes the addition of hardware.
Mellby Chair in Eldris Black & White
I had already put these charcoal paint samples up in his room.
One of the displays at Ikea had this wall color with the dark Besta cabinets,
and he liked it! Woo hoo!
I suggested this rug for some fun texture, but it got nixed because of the
'friction!'
We need to decide on bedding, lighting, rug and a few accessories,
but the fact that we made these decisions in less than an hour is pretty
miraculous!
I almost forgot to share his previous choice...I kid you not!
On a serious note, please pray for our state, as you've no doubt heard,
the fires are causing untold devastation, thousands have been evacuated and
hundreds have lost their homes, resources are limited and the forecast is for
the unseasonably hot weather to continue.
Despite my joking about miracles, we're in desperate need of one.
Wishing you a safe weekend, my friends!

Try the cinnamon rolls next time..haha! Love where this room is going!..My sixteen yr. old wants a room makeover, he would love all your ideas, keep us posted!
First of all, so sorry about the fires. I'm praying you all get some much needed relief fast! I have an IKEA post today too.... decidedly much more feminine.... but I love DB's picks too. Have a great weekend.
Yes, I was thinking of you when I heard about the fires. Hope everything is under control. I love hearing about your decorating adventures with your son! My older son is already begging for a TV in his room too - not happening! Have a great weekend!

Mother Nature works in mysterious ways that's for sure - I certainly hope things improve in CO - hoping for a miracle for all of you. And Details Boy cracks me up with his opinions - at least you got a visit to IKEA out of him and some progress!
Getting through IKEA in an hour ...now that was a miracle! :) Great choices ya'll found! Can't wait to see it all come together...going to be fabulous!
~Continuing to pray for CO!
I like the direction you have gone in with the room and great compromises. Interesting original bed choice :) So sorry about all the upheaval and devastation in Colorado.
Pam you have been in my thoughts with all the news on Colorado. All those poor people! Hoping for a downpour to cool things off out there soon!
Your son is a good decision maker! Love what you chose - very masculine and mature. The grey sounds like a perfect backdrop for a teenage boy's belongings!
Hope you have a great weekend my friend!
You're off to a great start! It's so neat that you two are working of this one together. That last bed looks like it belongs in a bad bachelor pad...:) I didn't realize the fires were still an issue, praying now!
I will definitely say some prayers for your state! The pictures make me so sad. Enjoy your weekend nonetheless, Pam!
I'm praying for all of the victims of the fires and those whose homes are threatened.
I love DB's opinions and final choices. I think his original bed choice was previously owned by Hugh Hefner.
Have a wonderful weekend!
Praying for Colorado and rain!
That last pic is so typical of what my son would have wanted. He is 24 and his wall size mural of Tahiti looms large and in charge. He even hung a hammock in a corner of the room! Im dying to change it and he is insulted.
I love the sleek manliness of what he picked out. It will be fun to see it all come together. Have a great weekend.

Been thinking about everyone in your state - so awful.
i think you are gonna get DB's room looking great - I knew you would!
I've been thinking of you in Colorado, too, and praying for everyone there.
Btw, I *love* that rug! "Friction"? I'm thinking how awesome it would be at hiding crumbs!
Your state in most definitely in my daily thoughts. A good friend has a brother who was evacuated, but thankfully his home was saved. What a terrible tragedy

Thinking of you guys during the terrible fires. :( Stay safe.
Oh goodness, I've been following these fires with such horror. We have a ton of family in Colorado, and some have had to evacuate, though no has been harmed by it. Hoping you all get a good dose of heavy rain soon. We'll be in your neck of the woods soon, by the way!
Camille
Hoping you get some rain soon and relief from the heat soon...so sad.
