Between the new vintage wing backs and the bigger than life mirror our house has been
a flurry of furniture rearranging. If you follow me on Instagram yesterday I shared a
photo of my favorite dumpster dive makeover and mentioned it's being retired to the
guest room. Goodbye green dining room buffet. :(
I originally planned to move the gray hutch in the living room to the guest room,
but it was a couple inches too long, the next best scenario was the hutch in the dining
room. BUT, it felt too closed in with this big piece of furniture and no mirror reflecting my
french doors and nailhead ceiling. After much deliberation the simplest solution was to keep
the bottom portion and let the top go... I know you guys are going cringe, but I put it out
in front of our house with a free sign, and it was gone in a flash.
Keep the faith,
I have a pretty plan using my favorite Rustoleum High Gloss Enamel in white.
It won't be two toned - that's just my methodical painting style.
I'm still debating on the gold trim.
I fell head over heels for EVERYTHING about this room by Melanie Turner Interiors
and it's my inspiration for the makeover of the hutch, which has snowballed into
a dining room refresh. :)
I think my buffet lends itself to the large statement hardware centered on the
doors and won't my gold foo dog be perfect to hide the lovely thermostat?
I'm on the hunt for mirrors and I'll be adding some pops of color in fabric
or wallpaper, more on that soon. :)

wow Pam! It looks like a great way to start fresh for Spring. You find the best things on CL, and make them into something even better. I need to find you on instagram and start following. Have a great week.

oh i am just relieved you didn't get rid of the green piece entirely! and i love the inspiration and am not cringing- i tend to prefer no upper cabinets... on hutches, too. i like just sideboards. taller pieces of furniture always make things feel closed off to me. now that i think of it, we have lower pieces in all of our bedrooms, dining room... the only tall pieces are bookcases in the living room and playroom and the lockers in the playroom... what does that say about me? i like wide open spaces i guess. :) i love this plan!
Okay is weird that I am attached to your green buffet and your grey hutch??????? No don't answer that. We all need change sometimes. I think your new ideas sound beautiful and can't wait to see this room refresh play out!! Lucky person who snatched your hutch by the way!!
I love your inspiration picture! I really hope you find mirrors exactly like the ones in the shot because they're killer. The new look screams open and airy goodness.
You are giving me an itch to repaint my grey hutch!! Cannot believe you set that out for free! Eek! When we moved in I considered parting with the top of mine too but it is currently still intact. Can't wait to see the new look!!
It looks SO GOOD! Love the gold and white :) xo
I almost cried about your hutch until I saw the inspiration photo. So beautiful! That hardware!
AMAZING!! How I wish I was your neighbor. :) This will be fantastic and I can't wait to see the reveal; I'm especially looking forward to learning more about how you will replicate the hardware. That Melanie Turner piece is everything!
Your house is so beautiful! The hutch will look fabulous in glossy white; oil based paints are the best and they really aren't a paint to clean up either. Those wing back chairs you got off of Craigslist are A-MaZ-iNG; I had admired them in your coffee table styling post but didn't know you got them off craigslist -- what a find! I can't wait to see how you change the space.
Best,
Jessica
I'm so glad to hear that I'm not the only one regularly rearranging my furniture and moving things from room to room! It looks great in its new manifestation.
I love impromptu makeovers! But, girl, what were you thinking throwing the top of your hutch out??? ;) If we only had unlimited storage space, huh? Your inspiration photo is stunning, can't wait to see your spin on it! BTW, if you need to MacGyver that hardware, I still have some Christmas ornaments like I used on my china cabinet left I could send your way, they almost look exactly like the photo!
I can;t wait to see how it turns out. Your inspiration room is STUNNING.
Can't believe you let the top go! But with all the new things in your home, I can see why, and I know, You will make this even more stunning and we'd forget about the top after a while!
I get so excited when you start a project because you are the very best at pulling it all together on a budget. I love everything you have done. I was upset about you parting with the top half of the buffet until I saw those mirrors on chains...killing me!!!! They are terrific. Hurry and show more photos. Would love watching the process step by step!! The mind of a décor wizard! :)
Pam, I am glad you have gone topless! Ha! Can't believe I just wrote that. I think it will have a more polished finish with out it. Cannot wait to see the guest room. The teal green will be beautiful in a bedroom.

Great job! I am in awe of your talent! Looks great. Can't wait to see more.
Loving you plans. I have a feeling that letting go of the top hutch will only bring more Craigslist karma goodness into your life.
I love that you are making changes and moving things around. I am glad your beautiful green hutch will be used in another space. Lucky is the person who drove by and found your free sign!

Hahaha, it is always fun to watch others change it up so much. I have faith.
Your headline made me scream NOOOOOO out loud but I'm sure whatever else you'll do will be fabulous
Pam, your inspiration pic is the exact one that I had in mind when I bought the credenza for our home office that I had planned to paint white. Since I totally wimped out in painting mine, I can't wait to live vicariously through your makeover!
I've always loved your green buffet. Can't wait to see how you change things up!
Where did you find these mirrors? Beautiful!
Hi Leigh, the mirror over my green buffet I found on Craigslist. Unfortunately, I don't have any info on the others in my inspiration photo. I agree they're beautiful, sorry I couldn't be of more help!
Test
Hi Pam! Sorry about the test comment my last one didn’t go through. My question is where can I find those gold framed double mirrors on chains above the buffet? Or search terms to find them?
