Thanks for checking in on the One Room Challenge of my kitchen makeover!
This week challenged my patience a tad. :)

Let's start with the pretty stuff, because it makes me happier than
installing hardware and cabinets.
Here's a peek at the fabrics I'll be using on our bar stools and simple box cornice
board, a traditional floral print paired with a modern geometric.

I've loved this style forever, it's exactly what I was going for, however I had major
issues with these gems! Our cabinet doors and drawers are much thicker than Ikea's which
means we need longer screws - easy enough. Except IKEA's are metric and the hardware
stores and IKEA only carry certain lengths in metric, long story short I found some screws
that could work, but they had to to hand cut to the right size and it was $40 for 48 screws.
(Btw, Mr. Simple - the IKEA hardware is such a deal we still come out ahead, just thought I'd throw that in.)
I won't bore you with all the other issues, but it meant a couple wasted days!
(Detail Boy helped put the doors back on, it looks like he needs to tweak the adjustment a bit,
but he did an awesome job.)
I'm so happy with the painted tile, and how the bevel is accentuated.

Did you notice my hood mock up?
Keep your fingers crossed for me, I'm totally going out on a limb with my DIY idea, and
it could be a
vibe similar to these. I think it will work, but what's in my head doesn't always equate...

Oh my gosh, you seriously get after it girl!! The tile looks completely new and different, I can't get over that change, and the hardware is amazing!!!!!! I know exactly what you're talking about with the screws, I have spent eons in the Lowes screw aisle looking for longer screws with the same threading…..ugh! But you are getting there and your vision is coming to life! The fabrics are sooooooooo pretty…..can't wait to see them and the hood!

Pam, I am so loving how your painted tile looks and can not wait to see your your hood DIY turns out! I completely understand your frustration about the pulls because crazily enough I went through the exact same thing this week with the IKEA pulls for my daughter's closet. I didn't even know that there was such a thing as metric screws until now! After two unsuccessful trips to Home Depot, our little local hardware store solved my crisis and had screws that worked. I'm glad that you figured out a solution too and hope the rest of your makeover gets done without a hitch!

It looks like you've made major progress, even if it doesn't seem that way to you. LOVE those fabric choices and everything is looking SO good! I just used my Dad's Dremel to cut off some metal pieces from my chandy...you probably could have purchased one for what you spent on the labor! :( I've already used it for several projects. I hate project hang-ups like that....so frustrating!

Oh Pam I loev what you are doing and i cannot wait to see before and after pics when it is all done. I feel your pain on stalled progress when you run into issues - it's even worse I think when it's little things like hardware that should be a sinch! Carry on - you will get there and then it won't matter how long it took. Don't even ask how I know that's true!!! ;)
1) I am drooling over your fabric selections. Ah-mazing. 2) A backsplash never looked so good! It almost appears quilted...if that makes sense. Can't wait to see the hood. I know this room will be spectacular when you're done! xx

Pam, your tile looks amazing!! I can't believe that you just painted it. I also love the hardware, and it would cost a fortune if you got them somewhere other than Ikea, so you saved a lot. This was a huge undertaking, and it's looking great. Hang in there.

HOW did I miss you in the list of 20???????????? I got your sweet comment and I am astounded that somehow, when I thought I had read and commented on every project, that I missed yours! What a loss on my part, and I'm so glad you commented on mine so I could click on and see that my head has been in the sand! Your kitchen is coming so incredibly beautifully. As you know, this ORC can put you in a state of exhaustion, so I guess that's how I've missed your posts. Your formica looks great, and I tell you, it's incredibly underrated in the world of finishes. I am not really a granite lover, never have been, unless it's honed. Hi Amy - Thank you! The hardware is Lansa, I used the 9.5", 13.5" and 17.5" and roughed it up with sandpaper, used Rustoleum Metallic Paint and Primer in One. The same as I used for my faucets in the bathroom. http://simpledetailsblog.blogspot.com/2013/03/painted-faucets-shower-enclosure.html
Hello! I am happy for all those who just need to repaint in a different color to freshen up the interior. My problems were that my house was old and needed renovation. I started small and used professional help to replacement windows mississauga - https://thwindowsdoors.com/windows-and-doors-mississauga/ I can say that I was lucky with contractors. There are not only workers but also a designer who can show and explain what material is more suitable for the interior. I chose wooden windows but with modern plastic double-glazed windows and soundproofing.
