What would you do?
You know I'm updating my kitchen for the One Room Challenge, well I've been
mulling over the hardware choices waaaay too long, and the time has come to make
a decision. Just when I think I've decided I start vacillating again.
Here's my dilemma...
White cabinets - DONE
Hardware - ??? Brass/Gold or Nickle/Silver ???
Is Gold too trendy, or back to stay?
Is Silver over with, or a classic?

I prefer nickel/silver; however, you have great taste and whatever you choose will be great !!!
That is a hard decision. I would try to find the hardware you like best, regardless of the finish and let that make your decision for you.
Hmmm, tough choice. I can really see an antique brass in your home. I have brushed nickel on white cabinets and LOVE it. I admire them all the time. Cannot wait to see your kitchen tomorrow!
It is a tough choice but why not go trendy with the gold if you find an affordable version. It's so easy to change out once you get tired of it. And I so gravitate towards it ;)
I just had my cabinets painted White Dove and changed out the hardware to antique brass cup pulls and antique brass and crystal knobs. I really love it ... I feel like the brass adds a touch of warmth.
So jealous (and happy for you) that your cabinets are done! I say don't think about trends when it comes to picking your hardware, just pick the one you love.
I am all about the gold. Even though it hasn't filtered to the big box home improvement stores yet...I think it will be everywhere soon. I don't think you will be disappointed and it looks gorg against white! xo Kristin
I can say with confidence that it's what you like. Decor bloggers set the design trends. What you say is in style is :). Those of us who are clueless will believe you and be grateful for the info.
I am all about brushed nickel - changed even the hinges on the doors throughout my house. I like it because it is understated. That being said, go with gold if you want it to stand out more and make a statement. Why not buy a couple of knobs of each, put them on the cabinets and live with it for a day or two - then decide which you like best! You are the one that will live with it everyday, so go with what you love!
Hi Pam...so exciting to do your kitchen...I will check out Instagram too. I wanted to say I have had three homes and I never felt trapped by my choice of hardware. Have I changed my hardware after 6 years in the same home HECK yes! it is jewelry and after a while I felt like changing it and wow it made my kitchen look brand new with out painting again. I also looked at it this way my second choice was my favorite so when I moved I took my favorite hardware with me and put back the ones I was done with. A win win!!!
You should know my vote... gold/brass all the way!! :)
So excited Pam to see what you come up with! I'm sure it will be beautiful. I love it all! I'm a hardware junkie! Can't wait to see what you come up with!
i vote brass!!!!!!
I know what ever you choose it's going to look amazing...can't wait!!
I love all of them, I could live with the gold or any of the others. Can't wait to see what you choose.
decisions, decisions!! I lean more toward silver hues unless it is antiqued. Is it aged brass? Imho, gold looks tacky when it is super shiny. Like the little-girl-dress-up-jewelry gold, if you know what i mean.

I keep pondering the same thing. We are going to have the same decision when we get to that stage of our building and I keep looking at images to help me make up my mind. Still on the fence. I like the idea of mixing metals and love the look of the aged brass but also want a very casual relaxed look in our next house and think it may be too "decorator" looking. Husband will most likely not like the brass but have not brought it up because I want to have my mind made up so I can persuade him if I decide to to go in that direction.
What metal are the lighting fixtures in the kitchen? Depending on the amount of hardware you need, just have sets of both? I do not think going high end on hardware is necessary. Does Ikea have nice quality hardware? My brother in Chevy Chase, MD has several neighbors with Ikea kitchens that are very beautiful, not kidding!
Brass/gold! Totally fits within your home and I think that it's a trend that is still up and coming...so you will have many years to admire them. I'm dying to see the cabinet progress tomorrow! xo
I think it depends upon you and what fits in your home/style. I think gold/brass would be good for you. Yes it is on its way back 'in' but did it really ever go out of fashion? I wonder if you could mix it? One side of the room silver/nickel and one side or just the island gold/brass.... just a thought.

I say go for the Gold! I think the trend is around for a while. The good thing is that hardware can be easy and inexpensive to replace if you feel the need to swap it out down the road. The kitchen is coming along so nicely! Way to go Pam.

I dont understand why aged brass ever went away in the first place I say gold for sure!!
As much as I love love love bright shiny gold brass, it doesn't look great in every kitchen. We went with an antique brass finish which worked a lot better for us. I see why it's such a tough choice!! Can't wait to see what you decide! :)
I always go for gold! I think it's classic and if you love it that's what matters!
We have oil rubbed bronze. But, I love brushed nickel as well. We had brass prior to, but had a hard time keeping the finish on.
I've been struggling with the same thing. Kind of want to go gold but then I'm wondering if it will look wonky with my nickel faucet. Can't wait to see what you choose!
I like it all! I know, I'm no help. I do like a mix of hardware in the kitchen though. I have a chrome faucet, brushed nickel knobs and oil rubbed bronze light fixtures. It all seem to work well together. I do love brass too, but it just didn't go in this room. I made up for it by using it in the master bedroom. It's interesting how some rooms just seem to call out for certain colors/fixtures.
Gold and brass is it! Everything goes in and out...I think were going to be seeing it for at least 7 years or longer...Take a tone out of your tile...cant wait to see it!
There's so much to see here, great work, great countertop and hardware. I cannot wait to see the rest!
I have both in mine Pam since I couldn't make up my mind. Nickel for the white and gold for the brown cabinets, lovin' your choice though!!
I love the gold...and also happy to see that brass is making such a great comeback too....Love the inspiration pics!
