one room challenge...week two

So, I have got to be the all-time worst at estimating how long a project will take!
I was guessing one day for painting a base coat, and a couple days stenciling,
and I'd be ready to work on Week 3....ahead of the game! HA! In my dreams!

Reality...two days and two coats of base paint,
days of stenciling,
including painting over stenciling mistakes,
waiting for paint to dry,
re-stenciling,
more painting over more mistakes, more waiting, more stenciling!

Yes, my David Hicks La Fiorentina wallpaper look-alike is an all over stencil. :)

I know what you're thinking - hurts your eyes, makes you dizzy??
Just wait, a LOT of it will be covered up!

It needs tweaked in the corners and finished at top.
Working on that pretty ceiling fan/light combo, too.

It's a metallic finish, but since my room is north facing it doesn't 'shine' unless the
light is coming in just right and you're at the right angle. I tried to get a shot for you.

I used the Alexa Stencil from Cutting Edge Stencils
Behr Premium Plus Ultra - color matched to Benjamin Moore Simply White
Martha Stewart Living - Precious Metals Specialty Finish - Kiwi Peel

The Precious Metals finish is thinner than paint, making it harder to achieve a
consistent solid color, I liked the mottled appearance. Also, bleeding under the stencil
was an issue. I tried a stencil adhesive, but it didn't hold well, and I ended up using tape
to keep it in place. In the close up above you can see some of the bleeding, after I get art,
mirrors, etc. in place I'll go back and clean up the edges with some white paint.

Glad to be moving on.... :)
