pretty glow with outdoor spotlights

The other night I was at my friend's house and was so excited to head out
so I could see her home all aglow in the Christmas lights they'd just put up. It
was just as beautiful as I expected, but I noticed her wreaths on the windows and
her pretty window box didn't show up well. I told her about our spotlights that give
the entire front of our home a pretty glow and highlight our Christmas decor.
If I hadn't been a hundred feet away this would be a great example - you could see
our wreaths on the windows and our window boxes!

We use two spotlights, one a few feet from the porch and the other a few feet
from the patio on the left where I have a bench and oversize lantern.
Without the spotlights it's barely visible.

Ours are from Home Depot, we've had them for a few years, and it couldn't be easier,
you push the stake into your lawn and adjust the angle to highlight your area.
It is similar to this - Home Depot LED Spike Light here

Here are a some examples of homes I found that are using spotlights.

Have you ever tried them or do you have a trick to highlight your decor?

Your house looks magical, Pam! We used to use a spotlight to highlight the front porch our Ohio home. The house sat at the top of a hill, the spotlight made it pop amidst the dark woods surrounding the house, along with lit trees and shrubs. I love the balanced placement of lights throughout your property. Merry Christmas! Enjoy!

Wow! It's really truth that American decorate outdoor:-) It;s a pitty that in Poland it's not so common because it looks GREAT. Your house is beautifull & looks like from fairy tale. I'm really impressed. Thank U so much for the best inspirations ever! Kisses from Poland:-) Kasia

In our younger days we did put a wreath on every front window....ten of them and had spotlights. It really was pretty and then we got older and lazy.

Your house looks beautiful Pam! We do use a spotlight, but not an LED. Your LED looks much better than the spaceship versions I see around our neighborhood :).

Your house looks like a postcard! So inviting!

I love how you do the lights across the roofline, so pretty!! We use a spot light some years, it depends on how much snow is on the ground when we go to put up our Christmas lights :) I love the soft glow it gives a house, especially a wreath on the front door.

About ten years ago we had low voltage outdoor lighting installed In our Texas yard and it makes a world of difference. Definitely worth the investment. We have permanent little brass spots on the trees and house front.
It makes the house look so friendly at night!
Love your Christmas lights. I'm heading back to Texas on Friday and am fairly certain there won't be a Christmas decoration in sight at my house. Grrrrrr.
Merry Christmas.

When we moved into this house 12 years ago the hubby added a ton of landscape lighting all around our front and then in the back on the pool deck. He added spots under all the windows in the front we love it!
Pam that first photo is your home right? It looks beautiful all lit up and I love the red lights on the chimney!

Great tip Pam! For wreaths though, I'm loving the battery operated LED lights you can buy almost anywhere! They usually have a timer too, so no need to turn on switches!

Hi Pam

We used to use them before we had permanent spots installed. They work great. You have me thinking I better drag them out!!

Lighting is everything. Inside & out.

Your house looks so festive! We usually put a spotlight on our front door to illuminate the wreath. I hope you are enjoying time with family this week. And I hope you had a Merry Christmas Pam!
Cheers! - Shelley
