client update...

Happy Monday! :)

Do you remember my client with the 80's tract home, we did a kitchen makeover
awhile back. Her living and family rooms were on our list too, but once again life got
in the way. We're finally back on track and they are thisclose to being finished. I thought
you might like a peek at our progress and plan for what's left to do.

Does this refresh your memory? This is where we started before taking out every other
spindle in the staircase and giving it a good dose of white paint.

Her living room is so small we decided the best use would be a library/sitting room, and
we'd ditch the bulky sofa. Ikea's Billy Bookcases were used to create interest on this huge
two story wall and draw your eye up. Molding detail will be added to the top and some
pretty statement hardware on the center cabinet doors for a more custom look. The narrow
profile worked perfectly with the size of the room. We have a collection of accessories pulled
out for styling when the time comes, can you tell we're chomping at the bit?

Still to come - both chairs need new upholstery. The cane barrel chair was a thrifting
steal, the gold side table will be moved to the family room, a new window seat cushion,
drapes and pillows. The paper on the back of the bookcase isn't a good match for the wall
color, I'm thinking a black and white marble pattern would be so good for a little edge.

She picked up this great console table for $15, we removed a bottom shelf in order to
accommodate a bench or two tucked underneath, this one may be a contender. The
mirror and pair of bamboo lamps are keepers.

The family room is adjacent to the living room, just separated by the staircase.
She had the pretty wing back, we added the jute rug, a huge mirror above the fireplace,
and the slipcovered sofa. We're using a pair of side tables in front of the sofa.

These were another Craigslist deal, we loved the bamboo detail, they'll get a coat of high
gloss black paint. We're still searching for a second side table, and drapes are ready to hang.

This mammoth 80's armoire is being replaced by the stylish piece on the left
(another Craigslist find) and a streamlined flat screen tv. It will house all the components,
and we're thinking it might need a paint job, too.

Of course, we need some great pillows, books for the bookcase and a few accessories,
but we're on a roll.
This is her kitchen that is open the family room,
you can check out more of the makeover here.

It's such a fun project, she has incredible taste and is a Craigslist and thrifting pro,
in addition to being a delight to work with.
Thank you again for letting me share your home, Lori!

What a brilliant refreshing makeover! I love all the elements and that it doesn't look too stiff and new. The collected additions make it instantly home-y. I know they are loving it. It looks fabulous Pam! xo Nancy

Is the paint color all the same? It looks gray in the living room and beige/tan in the family room.

Hi Mimi - the paint color is all the same, it's a custom color that she used throughout all the first floor and part of the second.

Hi Unknown - it's coming, I promise! I had such a hard time photographing while I was painting. But, I let my brother use the HomeRight Sprayer and will get photos of him doing cabinets! :) He should be finished with the prep in the next day or so. Sorry for the delay in getting the info up!

It already looks amazing Pam! I can only imagine how it will look when it's done, fabulous for sure!

Pam, did you do a follow-up of this project when it was finished? If so, I missed it. Can you point me to it, please?

Hi Mimi - We still haven't finished, we're jumping around. We skipped to her daughter's bedroom and now we're doing her bedroom for the One Room Challenge. In the meantime we found two amazing vintage chairs for the room that we need to get re-upholstered, I'll do a post on them. Thanks for checking in!
