one room challenge - week one

Let's do this!
First, a huge thank you to Linda @ Calling it Home, the mastermind behind the ORC.
Be sure to stop by and check out the over-the-top talent she's rounded up this time!
And, thanks so much for stopping by to see what I'm up to this time around!

I know you all have a lot of ORC posts to check out, so here's a short and sweet intro to
my project. I'm thrilled to be helping a client turned friend with her Master Bedroom.
She's been through a divorce this past year and is the sweetest, hard working, single
mom and thought it would be selfish to do her room before the rest of the house was
completed. We had a little chat and here we are. :)
Not your typical makeover - a symbolic out with the old!
We're on a budget, but she has a great sense of style and we've been scouring
Craigslist for a month or so and we're not finished yet, I'm dying to show you
our finds, and how we'll be incorporating them.

BEFORE
This sponge painted statement wall was done 18 years ago by a highly acclaimed
master who did the Parade of Homes! In the day I'm sure it was the bomb, but it's time,
and we're going light, bright and white!

BEFORE

Our plan is a new furniture arrangement, with the bed under the window,
and an upholstered headboard.

BEFORE

Replace this armoire with a beautiful, functional piece that has storage, doubles as a
media center, is unique, not too narrow, not too wide and inexpensive. No small feat, but
THANK YOU CRAIGSLIST!!
Our inspiration is this piece from designer, Amanda Nisbet's Manhattan apartment.
Do you see the TV...I didn't think so...perfect!

Her high vaulted ceiling is begging for large statement lighting, we were open to different
styles but when this ad showed up on Craigslist we raced to get one of them.

A DIY I've been dying to try is in the works, and that's all I'm spilling today!
See you next Thursday, friends!

I love hearing about people helping out their friends with a room refresh. It's way better than a bottle of wine or a hug. It's a lasting morale boost :) I love your inspiration photo and am excited to see what that statement light turns into. Good luck over the next 5 weeks!

What a lovely bedroom space this is going to be. I cannot wait to see your progress and how it all unfolds.

I too am participating in the One Room Challenge. My challenges? I just moved to a completely new state (Texas) last week and therefore have no idea where to source things other than Wal Mart and Home Depot. :) I am currently battling strep throat and just want to lay around and eat soup as opposed to painting a 30 year old polyurethaned oak coffered ceiling that has never before seen paint. The accompanying powder room rivals the worst gas station stall ever. But a bonus is that the previous owners installed a wine glass and bottle holder on the ceiling of the bathroom. I kid you not. Come take a peek.

Pam, you are the CL whisperer of CO! I love this woman, already. How amazing to be able to help her and diy. Love the high ceilings. Can't wait.

And I'm so sorry I've been so MIA this summer - life is beyond crazy. Now that fall is here it's still busy but the earlier darkness seems to lend itself to a few more minutes to spend on my computer :)

I really like what I saw. This design is great for a romantic honeymoon. I'm talking about those couples that are created in adulthood. We all strive for comfort after 40. I asked about it in the chat where older women looking for younger men - https://www.flirtmatures.com/older-women-meet-younger-men.html Comfort and tranquility come first for self-made women. They have the right to choose the best and use it 100%
