So, we've had a change in plans for Thanksgiving this year, we usually host
about 12 -15, but my brother asked if I cared if they hosted this year.
Umm....no, that would be perfectly fine! :)
This is the best...my mom relayed to me what my sweet dad said...
"Well, what will Pam do, she needs to show the Thanksgiving table on her blog."
Too cute, huh?
I was looking forward to sharing my Thanksgiving table in fresh bright hues of
orange and green with crisp white linens and serving pieces.
Here's a peek at what would have been...
The plan was to show you how with a few simple changes I used the same pieces for
our Thanksgiving table as I did for this fancy girlfriend birthday party.
Same runner, same green geometric napkins, same white serving pieces.
You can check out the pretty party here.
I changed out roses for Pyracantha (shrub with orange berries) in my
old silver urn style trophy, added a few orange books and a small silver bowl
with fuschia mums from my yard.

Every fall I'm reminded I'd love to plant one of these Pyracantha shrubs in our yard
(mine came from a neighbor).
In my eyes, those vibrant orange berries far outweigh the multitude of sharp thorns.
I've read they are fast growers, as much as two feet per year, and the best time to plant
is fall. It's on my to-do list! Maybe next year my Thanksgiving table will be a repeat.
One week from today, Thanksgiving dinner, I can't wait!!

Pam, you table would have been lovely. I have three of those shrubs. I'm going to go hack off some branches first thing today. Great inspiration.
That is the sweetest thing ever, for some reason it actually brought tears to my eyes! Our parents take such pride in all we do and being a mom myself I totally "get it". Enjoy being a guest, I will be doing the same and consider a "day off" before the big event of Christmas!
Haha! Love that your Dad knows you so well! I get comments like that from my family as well!
oh so funny! our families might laugh at us, but they totally get us! love what would have been.... ;)
Too Cute ... Daddy looking after his little girl!! Go REVEL in the fact that you won't have to clean and you still got to pull together a beautiful vignette for all of us fans!! xo
Go Dad! always looking out for his daughter. Interesting I see this bush/shrub and never asked what it is when I drive to work in the neighborhood. I never thought of using fresh cuts for decor!! Great idea and so beautiful.
How sweet of your dad! That color combo is fantastic, I'm sure you'll have an opportunity to use it sometime!
Aw, sweet daddy! Think your sister-in-law will be offended when you tell her you'll be decorating her table for her this year? hee hee ;)
I agree -- pyracantha are so beautiful now! Would love one espaliered on my patio.
Your dad is so sweet. I'm glad you'll get a bit of a break. I am thankful for your fun and inspiring blog!
Happy Thanksgiving!
Lori
So sweet of your dad to think of you and your blog!!! But yes, it would be a 'relief' not to worry about arranging and cooking and all that for once. We are hosting Thanksgiving at our home again this year, usually we have friends over (except last year when my mom came to visit) and I'm excited to start whipping up decorations for it! Anyhow, love the berry idea, they are perfect, I think better than roses for this fall season. Enjoy your moment of relaxation for a bit, then start thinking about Christmas! ;-)
Your dad sounds like mine.
Love those geometric patterned napkins.
Your table would have been smashing I know but the good new is you won't have the awful mess!!
Your sweet dad, how wonderful. Cherish your time with them! Love your orange and fuschia and green table. I have Nandina with orange berries that I will use. You'll just have to have one of your great dinner parties with your fall table! I have always hosted both Thanksgiving and Christmas--it would be weird not to but I wouldn't mind a break! xo Nancy
Wow, Pam. Enjoy being a guest rather than the hostess this year. Love that you Dad was concerned that we wouldn't see your gorgeously appointed Thanksgiving table. Have a wonderful holiday with your family!!
What your Dad said is too sweet! I know your table would have be gorgeous but it has to be nice to be a guest this year instead of a host.
So pretty, Pam, and your dad is so sweet! I just wrote about my Thanksgiving table today too. x
That is so funny and sweet coming from your dad :)
Oh no!!! Pyracantha is poisonous do NOT put them on a table!!!!
Pyracantha berries are mildly poisonous as they contain Cyanogenic glycosides and can cause mild gastro-intestinal problems;[4] they are edible only when crushed and washed under running water. They have been made into jelly.[5]. WIKIPEDIA Also....not good for dogs.
I read this post as soon as it come up in my email this morning, but had trouble commenting - and I really wanted to say - HOW CUTE IS YOUR DAD????? I love that he is concerned about your blog :) That is the best! Also your fresh take on Thanksgiving - had you hosted - is so pretty with the green and orange, I love the combination! So fresh.
So sweet Pam! I'm sure your table would have been gorgeous as always.... but sit back and enjoy the break... you deserve it!
Aww what a sweet dad still looking out for his daughter! Melt my heart. My parents have a pyracantha plant and it is so pretty with the berries this time of year!
Awww, that is so sweet! I love it when our parents 'get' what we do as bloggers :)
Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family…I am sure you will be lending your talents to their table….so love the comment your dad made…what a sweetheart to be thinking of you that way…I am sure he is one of your biggest fans!!
Well your tablescapes are always the best so your Dad knows you very well :) But at least you get a little break this year, huh? Happy Thanksgiving Pam! I'm hoping to be back in 2014.
