I fell victim to the faux taxidermy trend!
I think it can look chic, stylish and at the same time be the perfect bit of quirk.

The size and detail of these guys I found at Homegoods was perfect, but the color wasn't quite
what I wanted, so I gave them a makeover with white, gold and silver paint. I planned to
use them for the holidays and in my Bedroom Reveal for Spring and Summer.
A change of plans in the bedroom, Mr. Simple is so indecisive when it comes to his
own home, he just couldn't decide where he liked them best! :)
Maybe these ideas would have helped...

I've looked at those exact pieces at Homegoods! I had to refrain since we have too many of the real deal hanging around our house. Love them in your space. Silly, Mr. Simple, needs to work on his decisiveness. ha!
I'll admit I like the trendy look they add to a room but I won't do it in my own home...cause I just don't like taxidermy. I don't care if it's fake taxidermy...it still implies that an animal lost it's head to be put on the wall. I know these are plastic or wood and no animal lost it's life...but I just can't embrace them. So I'm skipping this trend.
I will be honest, I would have never thought of even looking at one of these pieces. But after you showing all those gorgeous rooms, I may reconsider. Although they really won't match my home. I guess I will pass. But I bet where ever you out the ones you picked up, they will look great.

Love all the rooms ... I am "not in" on the trend.... Those things creep me out..... I'd rather see art, art and more art as in paintings... sculpture... or things more organic.....
i am so on this trend- i LOVE it! i wish i could mount a lion or goat one on a wardrobe so it would be like lion witch and the wardrobe peeking in my kids room.... that would be cool.
Home, home on the range! Too funny watching Mr. Simple look for a home for them. He is a good sport! I especially love the first room. You always find such pretty examples.

i'm sort of obsessed with faux taxidermy these days. i can't get enough. My husband thinks I am nuts. I really want the new unicorn from White Faux Taxidermy. I have a metal bison head and it's one of my absolute favourite things in our house.
I love it! Trying to convince my boyfriend that we need a gold deer head in the bedroom!
so on the taxidermy train. perhaps I've been on it too long as my 5 yr said to me yesterday, in all seriousness, 'if someone cuts off my head, please use it for decoration.' yikes.
was considering using that exact head in my ORC room but wasn't loving the pinkish hue. with negative time to paint it I was bummed to pass it up.

I love how Mr. SD gets in on the decorating! From hauling home your CL finds, to holding the paint box while you spray the fan, to figuring out a place for your newest accessories, he's quite the design assistant!
I have loved it for a long time, but now that there are shelves of white faux deer heads and ones with gold antlers at Target, Im over it for myself...gotta try to stay ahead of the trends! but love it in other people's homes until it is in EVERYONE's home, just being honest. dont hate :)
