one room challenge ~ week 2

First, you guys are the BEST!
Thank you SO much for all your sweet comments and support last week!!
You can catch up with Week 1 - The Plan  here.

This week we were pleasantly surprised when our budget friendly upholstered
headboard was delivered. Great quality, great nailheads, great service,
great price $149, and free shipping and returns!
I'm so hesitant to tell you where it's from, deep breath 1 - 2 - 3 - Walmart!

A simple silhouette was best against the busyness of the windows, and with free shipping
and returns we decided to order both colors we were debating. We liked the lighter oatmeal
color, linen-like fabric and contrast of the nailheads.

We narrowed down color and fabric choices.
Here were some of the combinations we played with, she is a neutral loving girl.
Do you have a favorite?

We were keeping our fingers crossed for nightstands to show up on Craigslist, on
Sunday morning I opened my CL tab and these amazing Drexel campaign chests had
been listed 27 minutes earlier! $30 each! I dialed the number so fast and talked even
 faster...IwanttobuyyourchestswhencanIpickthemup?
They're an awesome size, we wanted large, and we're hoping they're not too big.

When you stop by next week we'll have splashed crisp white paint from top to bottom
and will show you some of our other Craigslist pieces we're incorporating.

ikea black and white eivor throw

I have another Ikea favorite for you today ~
it's perfect for cuddling up on the sofa without sacrificing style. No hiding it
in a storage basket or tossing it behind the sofa if someone stops by!
Ikea's Eivor packs a punch of graphic black and white style for a reasonable price.
You'll notice it's popular with all your favorite bloggers, too!

Black & White Stripe -  $19.99
A generous size - 49" x 67"
Washable - 100% Acrylic

I can't believe I don't have one. I have some returns to make today and it's on my list!

If you're an Ikea fan you can find more of my favorites here,
and if not, you might become one when you see these awesome items:

Henriksdal Chair
Salong White Vase

fresh fall mantle...

Hey everyone, hope you all had a fabulous couple days off, we couldn't ask for more
a more beautiful fall weekend. Yesterday was a good day for my ORC room,  just
as we were thinking we were going to have to buy retail, the Craigslist Gods smiled upon
us and the ideal pieces showed up. Check back on Thursday and I'll show you what we
scored for an amazing price! I fit in time for a fall mantle refresh using a few things
from around our house and yard.

I borrowed a couple pieces from my blue and white collection, gave my favorite
lady bust a shawl of Virginia creeper vine, added a few orange books, and propped
my zebra tray from Target (did anyone not buy that?) up on an easel.

I love my new gold sculptural sphere, a friend picked it up for me at Hobby Lobby,
it's a budget friendly ($8.50 with coupon) knock off of West Elm's sculptural sphere.

You know I'm all over using greenery from my yard, I was hoping for fall-ish
looking branches of leaves, but no luck. I had two choices green or crunchy brown.

Have a wonderful week sweet friends,
and thank you so much for all of your kind comments and excitement for the ORC!

her fabulous kitchen she transformed on a budget.
(Btw, her husband had a hand in it, too.)

Ellen @ Scribbler Unfocused brought this neutral chair to life with spray paint.
It's a perfect fit in this happy, lively spot in her bedroom.
She shares her tips and type of paint, too.

Stacey @ Steward of Design had been scheming this fireplace makeover for
thrirteen years! She got brave and is now doing a happy dance around her family room!

A clever idea for a custom piece of art using wrapping paper and burlap,
I love the sweet little heart, or an initial would be fun.

one room challenge - week one

Let's do this!
First, a huge thank you to Linda @ Calling it Home, the mastermind behind the ORC.
Be sure to stop by and check out the over-the-top talent she's rounded up this time!
And, thanks so much for stopping by to see what I'm up to this time around!

I know you all have a lot of ORC posts to check out, so here's a short and sweet intro to
my project. I'm thrilled to be helping a client turned friend with her Master Bedroom.
She's been through a divorce this past year and is the sweetest, hard working, single
mom and thought it would be selfish to do her room before the rest of the house was
completed. We had a little chat and here we are. :)
Not your typical makeover - a symbolic out with the old!
We're on a budget, but she has a great sense of style and we've been scouring
Craigslist for a month or so and we're not finished yet, I'm dying to show you
our finds, and how we'll be incorporating them.

BEFORE
This sponge painted statement wall was done 18 years ago by a highly acclaimed
master who did the Parade of Homes! In the day I'm sure it was the bomb, but it's time,
and we're going light, bright and white!

BEFORE

Our plan is a new furniture arrangement, with the bed under the window,
and an upholstered headboard.

BEFORE

Replace this armoire with a beautiful, functional piece that has storage, doubles as a
media center, is unique, not too narrow, not too wide and inexpensive. No small feat, but
THANK YOU CRAIGSLIST!!
Our inspiration is this piece from designer, Amanda Nisbet's Manhattan apartment.
Do you see the TV...I didn't think so...perfect!

Her high vaulted ceiling is begging for large statement lighting, we were open to different
styles but when this ad showed up on Craigslist we raced to get one of them.

A DIY I've been dying to try is in the works, and that's all I'm spilling today!
See you next Thursday, friends!
